*♥*Weekend check in*♥* 9/10-11

Hi again beach babes,

I'm getting the thread up early again for those roaming who would like an early check in.

This was a great day wasn't it, sounds like happy beachers to me and content with eating on program, yah! I had a one perfect day and want a one perfect weekend. As long as I stay out of sugar, I'm a happy camper!

Yah on the water challengers!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks for starting us off Marvi! Now I can check-in early since we're going to be on the road tomorrow.

We are going to a friend's anniversary party. This is presenting a challenge for me, but I think I'm up to it! They are having Mexican Food catered.

So here is my plan:

I am taking bottled water. Although I'm fairly sure there will be some at the party, I want to be prepared.

I am also taking a cooler in the car with things I can eat easily out of hand. Sting cheese, celery with p. butter, and turkey roll-ups. If they have nothing I can eat, I won't go hungry and end up eating off plan. Then, depending on what they do serve, I might be able to make a salad with taco fixings and add some fajita chicken or beef.

Does this sound like a good plan? Any suggestions to help me stay on Phase 1 at an event like this?

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Chris, sounds like you have all bases covered. Your take-a-longs are great w plenty protein. The menu is excellent for staying on plan, fajita meat and taco meat w veggies, salad, guacamole, salsa, beans, cheese all easily done. I just say, stay motivated, you'll be home soon and will be so proud you dealt with it. One of the easiest things for me is to always have a legal drink in my hands, keeps them occupied for less nibbling, so coffee, water, tea, diet diets, drink way. I think you're going to do totally awesome! Have fun! It's all about friendship and memories, not the food.

Morning Chris and Mtgrl, I'll be thinking of both you today, I know you'll do good! Looking forward to your shares when you return.

I just talked with my friend and neighbor. She and I are roaming out-of-town again today to see what we can get into like last Saturday. It's lots of fun! Gotta go get my "to-go pantry" ready too,

Be back tonight!

Hi Everyone,

I'm getting ready for some shopping today to but wanted to peek in to see ya all. We are heading out to shop for a small freezer and I'm going to our bookstore to check out the latest South Beach Quick and Easy Cookbook that just came out. It looked fantastic online so I just may be buying that today.

Have a wonderful fun filled beach day! It's wonderful when you feel like getting out and being with your friends and not inside because you feel too large to socialize. That makes me smile as I missed out on a lot when I weighed 350 pounds. Everyday is beautiful whether rain or shine now. Hugs to you all. We are all doing great with staying on plan.

Good afternoon!!

I am utterly astounded - I have been on plan for...count 'em...four and a half days without even a glance otherwise. This is unheard of!! I survived a shi-shi event with cocktails and hors-d'oevres with just cheese and a few other legal things. I walked right past the dessert table and even turned my nose up a bit at it... I also survived a fast food restaurant with a yummy chicken salad. Phew!

Crazy weekend - really busy, and had a gargage sale this morning which was a lot of fun and we made a bit of cash for Katrina victims. It was a neighborhood one so of course I was compelled to buy (what other choice was there, truly?!), and I was thrilled to score a 1950s Schiaparelli hat in its original box!!!!!!!

I won't weigh myself until Monday morning again so am hoping to see some good numbers. I'm having problems with water - not usually an issue for me - so I need to check in on the water challenge thread!!

Hugs to everyone.

Afternoon y'all!

The brunch went well, I had a medium portion of egg casserole and a little bit of fresh fruit. I passed up the muffins and butter!

At home, I made a huge salad and added some cooked chicken breast. Very satisfying, so I think that's what I'll eat today for supper and snack. AND, drink my water!

Glad to see everyone today, hope you're having a great weekend.

It is so nice to be able to go out and be around food and not even get bothered by it. I love that free feeling. You all are doing just great! Amazing just how fast this way of eating becomes a way of life plan. It's all about how good we feel when we eat the right things. I've always said, "eat for good health and the weight loss you will achieve will be your bonus." I checked into the new quick and easy cookbook and it won't be out until the 30th of this month. It looks great in the preview and I will be back to pick mine up when it's out. Have a nice evening beach babes!

I'm home! Long drive, 2-1/2 hour each way, but the party was fun. I had 3 bottles of water, and some beef fajita meat with pico de gallo. Everything else was refried beans which I am sure contained lard, rice and tortillas! I tried to focus on the "meeting and greeting" and just enjoying the party.

One interesting thing did happen though. When they passed out the cake, two kinds, and I said I didn't care for any, it was true! I wasn't the least bit tempted! Whoopee!
Now, I'm not naive enough to think I won't ever crave a piece of cake, but it sure felt good today!

"Talk" to you all tomorrow! Chris

I think it's good to have a new thread up early for us beachers who may be up at night, don't you? We'll be here to support you Reg! Sometimes it's good to pass the wand. Good luck and have fun!

I'll work more on gathering tips of the day and motivation too and begin getting the SBD book review going again and we really need to get the Challenge popping too. Support and coming together, that's what it's all about.

There are so many of you who are doing great and active and that can/and are contributing in making this the best SBD group ever.

I know all of us would love to see those who are reading or lurking join in with us, there's nothing like coming forward and joining in.

Chris, I'm so excited that you've checked in with a good report about your fun event and staying on program and passing on the cake. Did that not empower you? That is awesome!

Back to bed and night again, love you guys!

Marva

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is the start of my second week on Phase 1. So, that made it weigh in day, and I have the results!

I want to preface this by saying that in the two days that I was in the hospital before my surgery, I couldn't have ANYTHING by mouth. They were saturating (their word, not mine) me with IV fliuds. I am sure that a significant amount of this weight loss is water, but I'll take it anyway!!

This morning, I am down 14 lbs!!

I have also discovered a couple of valuable things this week. First, I don't need lots of fat to feel satisfied, though I can't say I don't miss my butter! Second, actively participating here has given the encouragement and accountability to succeed.

Thank you all for your caring attitudes, willingness to share your thoughts and expertise, and for just "being here" when I need a "boost'! What a wonderful place this is!

Wow you are going to town, Chris! That is fantastic! It's just amazing how good you feel in such a short time on this eating plan. My diabetis 2 skipped on down the road and my blood tests for insulin level was down to normal by the end of the first 2 weeks. That told me I was where I needed to be with food. Make you feel like your walking on air when you know how to eat right.

Hi Sharon! That's awesome!

I wanted to tell you guys about a couple of dishes I fixed for lunch. I didn't want to heat up the oven but wanted the taste of a fast meatloaf, fast and easy being key .

Mini Mexican Meatloafs -

I took a lb of xlean ground beef, mixed in an egg, some cajun seasonings I bought at whole foods and a squirt ? not much of no sugar added ketchup--no bread crumbs and shaped them into little flat loaves, I got 12. I put them in a heavy non-stick skillet and sliced a small onion very thinly and put a section on each little loaf and pressed it in. I cooked them onion side up, on top of the stove on medium until they look ready, then flipped them and cooked until they were done. When I turned them over, the onion slice had carmelized, yum.

Brussel Sprouts.....steamed, cut in half and topped with a sprinkle of butter buds and a few dabs of ff cream cheese.

Anyway, I thought I'd share as it was a good, fast lunch without heating the oven and I imagine we need to start thinking of that since they say the energy prices are going to hit the roof this winter. And...there's plenty for dinner and leftovers since there's just the 2 of us.

Happy beaching! I do love this way of eating too!

Thanks Reg! You guys are helping me do this!

Thanks Sharon! I am planning to have normal blood sugars and keeping them from now on! YOu are my inspiration. Once I heard your story, I knew it was possible!

Marvi, you must be a mind reader! DH was talking the other day about being hungry for meatloaf. I was thinking to myself, "No way, I don't want to turn on the oven". Now I have an alternative! Sound good too! He'll love the carmelized onion. I will try this for dinner this week!

Love brussels sprouts too! Thanks for sharing. Chris

Chris, I don't know if you've put a visual to your weight loss even though I know you're stepping lighter and your clothes are twisting around you, but here's one. One gallon weighs about 8 lbs right? So you lost 1- 3/4 gallons last week.

P.S., We really enjoyed the mini meatloafs, they are perfect finger food for eating during football games dh said, .
