Hi I am new...
Hi my name is Tina and I am new to this forum. I weighed myself today and was NOT happy with what I saw!
Anyway I am planning on starting my life change on Monday, using South Beach. I know you may be thinking why Monday? Well tomorrow I have to have gall bladder surgery so I thought I would give myself the weekend to heal and start a fresh on Monday. A little more about me.... I am a 33 yr old Christian SAHM of 2 boys which I homeschool. I am happily married to a wonderful man, it has been 11 yrs now. I like to cook, flower garden, read, internet, and journal. Can't wait to get to know the rest of you! I can use any tip to keep following South Beach! ![]() |

Welcome to the Beach! You won't regret starting this way of eating and this group of ladies is just the best with support and encouragement.
I had gall bladder surgery several years ago so I can sympathize with what you are about to go through. The laser surgery they do now is just wonderful and you can't even really see my four small incisions on my tummy. My best tip is to stick with the program to the letter - no cheats. I went cheat free for over 500 days and it was best thing I could have ever done for myself. Also, incorporating exercise into your daily routine is extremely helpful. I was able to lose about 100 in a little over a year following the program to the letter and working out 5-7 days per week. Oh, and of course I come here often (too often some might say [giggle]). Happy Beaching!!!

Welcome Tina!
I'm not new -- I was a lurker for a looong time -- but I am new to posting and relatively new to low carbing. I'm Rustybeth's little sister (for any of you who may know her) and she has been trying to convince me of the virtues of low carbing for years now. Since beginning my weight loss journey, I had always been a skeptic who (mostly) religiously followed a low cal, low fat diet along with weight training and cardio. The South Beach approach has gotten me past the frustrating plateau I'd reached -- so I'm now whistling a different tune. |

Hello I am BACK!! It has been 2 days since my surgery and I am feeling much better. The first night was a rough one but each day I am getting stronger! I am starting my lifechange for the beach tomorrow! I have to do something before my weight kills me. My doc found I had cholesterol deposits in my gall bladder!! He is sending it off to pathology... I will see him again on Oct 3rd. Anyway I will be posting on how I am doing daily (hopefully)! Thanks to all who greeted me!!

Tina, hope you continue to improve day-by-day! I know the sore feeling, so try and take it a little easy (I know that's hard with a family to take care of). It took me about 5 days to start feeling more energetic.
I actually think the new diet energy boost and the anesthetic wear-off came about the same day & I've been racing around since!! I know your boost is just around the corner. Glad you're here. I can't wait to get to know you better! Chris |

Breakfast: Cheese Omlet made with 1 whole med egg and egg white from another and 2% slice of cheese 1.5 slice hickory ham (not honey ham) 8 ounce of 2% milk Snack: slice of 2% cheese Lunch: 6 ounce of sauteed Pollock (fish) 1.5 cups Okra Snack: SF Raspberry Jello 1/2c Dinner: 3 ounce Grilled Salmon 1 cup green beans 1 cup succatash (yellow squash, onion, and red pepper) 60 ounces of water thus far and counting...... let me know if there should be changes. Thanks! |
