Want to try SBD...but can I???

I have done Atkins several times in the past several years with great success. But now, after 2 babies in 2 years my body is shot to heck and I have reevaluated my "belief" in Atkins realizing that bacon, mayo, and no fruits is just not a realistic or healthy way of dieting and eating. I have come to find South Beach and really want to try it.

Problem is...I am SO addicted to food and sugar, etc. I know, just like before, once I get going I will forget all those foods, not have the cravings and feel better. So why can't I just start the darn diet?!

I guess b/c I feel like I need to have all my ducks in a row, and know the diet well before I can jump into it. I know this board will be a great place to start and come back to for advice and recipes as I did with Atkins.

But my question to all of you is what do you suggest I do? Is it worth buying the book? Or is this site information enough (not leaving things out)?

HELLO, I ALSO LOST 90 LBS IN NINE MONTHS WITH ATKINS. HOWEVER, I GAINED IT BACK. YOU CAN NOT EAT THAT WAY FOREVER. SO I READ SOUTH BEACH DIET AND WAS VERY GOOD FOR TWO WEEKS AND LOST 20LBS. HOWEVER, I AM HAVING A HARD TIME ADDING FOOD BACK IN AND STILL LOSING. THIS IS THE WAY TO EAT FOR LIFE, SO IT IS WORTH FIGURING OUT WHAT YOU CAN EAT AND WHAT YOU CAN NOT EAT IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE LOSING WEIGHT.

Good luck in your weightloss journey. I enjoy South Beach because I can have veggies, fruits and whole grains. I lost a total of 30 pounds pretty much doing SB. When you go into phase 2, the best thing is to just add one thing at a time to see how your body is going to react to it.

I lost 60lbs with Atkins in 7 months, and gained about 20 back. I too realized that eating high fat and little/no fruits & grains couldnt be good. I've been doing SBD for 8 weeks and have lost 16 lbs.

I bought both books, but this is my favorite

dolfinluvr and Meghan! Jump right in and be one of the gang! I think it's worth investing in the book, the thing I used second to the info were the sample menus in both phases, that's the biggest help-along!

Dolphin lover your name made me laugh. Only because I am the only one I know whose been bitten by a dolphin. My kids like to tell that story.....sigh, they are so easily entertained. Good luck to you both on your journey. I say buy the book if you ever wanna get rid of it they sell like hot cakes on ebay. Plus you can hang out here with us this board is great and even tho on the main lobby board I at times felt neglected but never on the sbd board.....marvi always talks to me...LOL..thanks marvi.
