Daily Dish for Saturday 9/03 Do Eggs = Higher Cholesterol?

Do Eggs = Higher Cholesterol?

I was recently diagnosed with high cholesterol. I'm trying to eat healthier but am confused about eggs. Are they good or bad?
— Sarah M., Kansas City, KS

Until recently, Americans were told to watch their cholesterol intake by limiting their egg consumption. However, a number of major studies released in the past few years have shown that there is little, if any, relationship between egg consumption and heart disease risk in healthy people. Studies by the Harvard School of Public Health show that eating up to seven eggs a week has no discernible influence on cholesterol levels. Plus, eggs are very low in saturated fat — which, along with trans fat, is the kind to avoid.

While this is all good news for healthy people who love eggs, those with high cholesterol or a history of heart disease, such as yourself, may need to take extra steps to lower their cholesterol levels. I advise you to consult your physician; he or she will be able to recommend a specific course of action tailored to you.

HI all. Hi Denise! I hope that baby is doing well. I have been eating eggs for breakfast 2-3 every morning pretty much at least 6 days a week. and I just got my cholestrol tested and it is 174 the same as it was 6 years ago. I also exercise. and drink water and take flaxsed iol. I eat eggs so I laugh when people tell me how bad they are for me it is one of the best proteins in town and pretty cheap also..
