August 14th was a good day. I'm feeling better about my WOE already, and it's only been a day. I just hope I can stay on track this time for a while. I did ok a while ago for about four days, got back down to my goal range, and screwed it all up again. It's been so much easier just to use the job/house/whatever as an excuse to just not care than it has been to stick to my guns and put in the effort to stay on track.

I like how it feels to be on plan much better, and I know I deserve to feel good about my choices, so I'm recommitting.

Here's to a happy and healthy August!

Come join the Labor Day challenge if you want - Marva had a great idea to split up the Christmas challenge into more manageable pieces, so I kept the title and changed it from Christmas to Labor Day. After Labor Day, it'll be the "All I want for Halloween" challenge, then the All I want for Thanksgiving, and finally, all I want for Christmas challenge once again!

Have a nice week, I'll be stopping by again...

marva---glad you had fun at your bbq... also love your new pic
allykat--- good luck... i am sure you will be able to stay on track!

well i am trying to go back to phase one for a couple of days after my 2 days of "off plan" foods. maybe phae 1 will jump start my weight loss for vegas. ( i leave in less than a week ) i am not going to be eating on plan in vegas.. i could say i am going to try but i might as well be honest with myself but i figure it is my wedding and i should enjoy every aspect of that week and not feel guilty for my food/drink choices. besides i have to keep the cocktail waitresses in business
i am off to go tan...will check back in and hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone!

I am back from vacation, and although I had a great time I did gain 2lbs. However, I'm not too upset I think alot of it may be water weight due to alcohol and heat.

Anyhoo, I am going back on Phase 1 until until I lose 3 lbs and then back to Phase 1.5.

I'm looking forward to going back on plan (starting today!) and can't wait to see some loss again!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Hi All !!

I'm going to do P1 for a few days because DH and I went to a wedding last night and I over endulged a little.....which is OK.

When I was on Atkins it became an obsession with me.....I became very uptight.....I wouldnt socialize.

This time around, on SBD, I'm going to enjoy life more. Yes, I will stick to the plan 90% of the time, and continue to make good choices, and enjoy an occasional (very occasional) splurge, like at a wedding, Christmas, etc. If I dont do that for myself, I will deny myself, and probably never get to my goal.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend !!

Morning everyone!

As I wrote in my menu post, it seems that I am a "volume eater" compared to y'all! I am always hungry! I am drinking lots of water and decaf stvia-sweetened green tea and eating small snacks when hungry, rather than meals. I'm not sure if it's just my body going through changes from the chemotherapy, or the diabetes, so I'll stick to what I'm doing until I meet with the dietician this week.
I've been on P1 for 2 weeks and lost 4.5 pounds, so I guess that's something, right?

Now I'm working on lower sodium foods and less cheese. I need to shop more for fresh produce to do that, it's so easy to grab a string cheese when hungry or on the run!

Today I hope to make soymilk and some black bean, mushroom burgers.

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi everyone. I only have time for a quick post. We're leaving in 15 minutes to take the girls to the zoo. It's supposed to be in the upper 70's so it seems like perfect weather. Today I'm going to the gym to talk to a trainer. I want to get back with seeing one twice a week. Ever since the kidney infection I've been slacking with my workouts. I'm going to try to get on the treadmill or elliptical tonight. Have a great day!

Morning all.......

Today was weigh-in for me, I stayed the same, 159, woohoo. I was pleased considering the hectic week and this weekend and the piece of real cake. The neat thing is, it didn't awaken my cravings, knock on wood, but I won't tempt my luck! It was a rare treat and that's it.

Ally, Pom, I just can't tell you guys how happy I am that you've joined back in. I've gone off like that and it isn't the same not being in the circle, there's so much support here.

Thanks Dana, wow, leaving and getting married in less than a week, sure you don't want to rethink this, Just kidding, have fun.

Hi Sugar! I'm so glad you had a great vacation, we missed you. 2 lbs is great, just jump back on, it won't stick.

Morning Reg, you are so on target about not having to obsess with SBD, we may get there a little slower but we enjoy the ride and it's easier to maintain something that's doable.

Morning Coll....triscuits are fine, hope you have a good one!

Morning Melsh, hope you have a good day!

Hi MtGirl, awesome on the 4 lbs lost. I love reading your posts!

Have fun Denise and I know you are really anxious to get back into exercising. Put a pedometer on and join in with us gals walking the USA.

Hope everyone has a good one!

Hi again.....

Thinking of Coll's question on the triscuits, we need to get a thread going on snack recipes/appetizers since football season is here and the holidays aren't far away. Who wants to start one?

Hi

Have just a few minutes, have to help give a tour to over 30 United Way people - I always get nervous.

I'm at 129.5 - could be better but when I'm moody - I don't think as well as I should about what I'm eating. I spent weekend cleaning basement, demolding, bleaching, sraping and scrubbing and water proof painting it. In the meantime, DH, skip the D part, layed around and was just in foul mood - putting me in a mood. Since he returned to work after being off for 3 weeks ----- He must really dislike his job that it's coming out at home in this manner. I know he likes the job itself, but the people he works with and the police department itself are issues with him.

I'm also going over board. Besides doing the outside walls of the basement, I started painting the interior wood walls a bright yellow and deep blue. It's an 80 year old basement, somewhat scary so I'm brightening it up since it may assist with my hatred of laundry . There is a finished room there too and eventually one of the kids will take it over, so I figured, fix it up now while I can.

Well the tour isn't here yet....but I'm going to go and chat later, Renee

Hi everyone...I am starting Phase 1 today. Just wanted to introduce myself:

My name is Jen, I'm 27, married, mom of 3 kids (7/girl-Tori, almost 5/boy-Christian, and 2 1/2 / boy-Ethan). I started doing Atkins April 16, 2004, at 234 lbs. I have plateaued since this May (partly due to overindulgences too often ) I'm ready to recommit to a WOE, and more interested in a long-term deal that I and my family can live with. I think the SBD can do that for me.

I am a stay-at-home-mom / nursing student. I am taking my CNA class this semester, so that I'll be able to work part time at a hospital while doing the rest of my schooling.

Denise, we went to the zoo yesterday - Brookfield? I noticed you're in IL, but I guess that could be anywhere, huh? lol Hope you had a great day with the kids!

My menu for the day looks like this (I welcome any hints/tips/concerns!)

B: coffee w/1% milk and davinci's, 2 spinach quiche cups
S: EAS shake (100cals, 3g fat, 1g carbs, 15g protein)
L: 1 chicken breast over salad greens, 4 cuke slices, 3 gr pepper slices, 2 Tbsp (measured) light balsamic vinaigrette dressing, 1 sf jello cup
S: sf/ff yogurt (Blue Bunny lite 85)
D: turkey breast in stewed tomatoes (homemade), green beans, veggies in low-fat ranch dip (mix made with ff sour cream and a little mayo)
-gonna try the chocolate ricotta creme stuff for dessert-

Working on a total of 80+ozs water...

thanks for bein' here! Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Thanks, Stacy. I did read the book and I borrowed the cookbook and am in the process of flipping through for recipes that look good.

The book was interesting and I agree with a lot of What Dr. A. has to say. But I have to tell you that the main reason I wanted to switch is simply for the more balanced and varied food choices. The health and heart benefits are an added bonus....I know, sounds a little backwards, but from an otherwise healthy and active young person - I just wanted some fruit and grains! lol
