Can you lose on SB without phase I?

I'm doing Atkins, but I think that SB may be the right choice for my Mom. She has had "regularity" problems her whole life and after a week on Atkins, was so miserable that she never wanted to do it again. "protein for breakfast" makes her "gag". She's used to eating oatmeal for breakfast and swears by it for her system.

Anyhow, looking at phase 1, SB seems to be more like Atkins. I'm not sure that she could make it through the 2 weeks to get to phase 2.

Do you think that she could lose by going right to phase 2? or is the first phase essential to the program?

I do, all she needs to watch is portion control and eat foods from the Phase 1 and Phase 2 lists. Phase 1 just helps in getting rid of the cravings from the sugar, etc. I think it's great but not necessary. It's all about what works for her and SBD is awesome. Yah on the oatmeal.

I didn't do phase one, I do more 2 to 2.5 to 3. I have lost 45 pounds in a year, I am happy with that. I lost about 80 the first time and I was at that weight for ten seconds before I started regaining. So for me the slower steady is good

I think it will be much easier for her to stay on than the Atkins plan.
