Dissapointing
Today is Day 14 for me and DH. I have been stalled at 6 lb loss for 5 days now--actually, it's 5 lbs if I count the 1 lb gain I had this morning!! I am grateful for the 5-6lbs, but so depressed about the stall. Plus, DH has lost 10lbs--including 2 lbs from yesterday. I've been drinking a lot of diet soda--especially sf ginge ale. Could that be the reason for the stall? I'm off on a short trip for a couple days, and then I've got to try ph I again. Maybe this time no sf soda??? Also no daily weighing...I know it's not smart, but it's so inspirational if there is loss. OTOH, it can ruin a day if there isn't a loss.
Any suggestions? |

Hi there~
I think that diet soda also stalls my weight loss. I notice much more bloating when I drink it and the morning after when I weigh myself, my weight loss is never as significant. Maybe you can try cutting it out for a day or so and see if it makes a difference. About the daily weighing. I was like that at first too and still am curious every morning when I wake up to see how much I have lost. I agree that it can be motivational, but when I don't see a change, I know I get a bit frustrated and wonder if the diet isn't working. Maybe you can cut yourself back to weighing in every other day and then scale it down even more from there. Just a few ideas, but I am new at this too, so I may not be much help! Lacy |

I, like Lacy, think the colas could be the culprit too. Try drinking more water while on your trip too. Sometimes a trip, with the riding, isn't scale friendly either . Also, try not to get discouraged, men always seem to lose fast than women too. Question, were you dieting prior to beginning SBD? The beginning weight loss will usually be less if you were. The good news is you should maintain a happy weight loss as you continue the program. I weigh every morning too but small gains don't bother me much, it's the weekly totals and how my clothes fit that changes my outlook. I also don't have the newer type scales, just the regular ones so I don't see my weight in ounces and for me, that's less stressful. JMOFM Also, I aways know I'll have a fluid gain after adding in more exercise than usual and eating food items that contain more sodium (like colas and seafood), more/less fiber, etc. So that's a given for me until a little time passes and I do a little tweaking. In fact, I'm experiencing that right now since I've upped my exercise this week and my body thinks I might hurt myself so it's retaining a little extra fluid. If you aren't already, begin keeping a daily journal, it's a great tool. You'll begin seeing those changes and tweaking those off times as long as you're eating program, not eating frankenfoods, refined whites and sugars. Good luck and hope this helps. Thanks Lacy and Marva,
I'm glad that you both have had the same problem. I was wondering if working out could be a problem too--I work out hard at the gym 2x/ week, (and then (try!) to do boot camp classed 2x/week, plus walk at least 2x/week). After the gym workouts I never seem to lose weight. I'll watch the sodas during the next round....now it will be no carb, minimal fat, no alcohol and no sf soda!!! At least I'll be able to have seltzer water w/ a drop of lime juice, right? Barbara |
