New and ?'s

I am trying desperately to figure out what i should do. I read the sbd and it makes sense to me, but I am a carb addict. I don't eat alot of meat and hate eggs. Is this a plan that is not going to work for me since I dont eat a lot of meat. I have about 100lbs to lose and I just want to get healthy and be able to be more active with my kiddos.

Do you eat meat substitutes (tofu, soy based, tempeh)?

I bet all the menus could be converted to use these foods..

Hi erinlyt!

Most of us don't eat alot or extreme amounts of meat and our choices are lower fat. As long as you like green, yellow veggies, it might work as most of us come into this as carb addicts like you. There are other choices than eggs, like cottage cheese. The food lists are at the top of the forum index for a look see.

Why not give it a try, the SBD isn't always for everyone but it's a good, balanced, healthy way of eating and would be good for the kiddos too. It's not a magic potion, like everything else, the choices are up to us.

It's all about finding what works for your lifestyle. Good luck if you decide to join us, there's lots of good support here.

BTW, we have several members that are over 100 lbs losers so I'm sure their input will help!

ETA: Hi Mer, good advice, guess we were posting at the same time.

I'm not an expert by any means - but I would say that if you hate eggs, that's not going to be a problem at all. And if you don't eat a lot of meats, that's not really a problem either. Meat subsitutes/tofu/etc. are allowed on SBD. See the thread at the top of the page and it gives a listing of all of the allowable foods. The main thing on SBD that I've noticed is getting in lots of veggies. At least a 1/2 cup at Bfast, and 2 cups each at lunch and dinner. Protein is important too, so if you can get protein from other sources, that's fine. Just has to be lean protein - I like chicken breasts and turkey burgers.

Oh - and & GOOD LUCK! This forum is a lot of help!
