(¯`'•__§*!*All I Want For Christmas Challenge*!* 25 weeks 'til the 25th*§__•'´¯)
25 weeks 'til 25th, December...Looks like that's about how many weeks we have in our challenge, give or take one if you begin next Monday or if you want to begin Monday of this week until the week before Christmas.
Several of us beachers decided weeks ago we want to copy-cat the Christmas Challenge in the Century Challenge since we think it's such a great idea and post on the SBD board for conveniece now...and now that the 4th challenge is over, we can really go for the gold! ~~~ So..ask yourself this: Do you want to give yourself something REALLY special for Christmas this year? Good! ...You deserve it! It's simple........we're looking past Halloween and Thanksgiving, setting a goal......... the challenge will run through to Christmas Day. The hope here is that we will all see wonderful changes in ourselves by the end of this 6 months. I would encourage all participants to pick a personal 6 month goal too...one that you keep to yourself and then surprise everyone with at the end...your christmas present to you! Quoting Dr.Phil.... "Don't just set vague goals like, "I want to lose some weight." Be specific: How much weight do you want to lose? How do you want to feel? Close your eyes and visualize yourself after you've reached those goals. Use this visualization to feel commitment and inner strength. Be sure to move toward a positive goal, not just away from being fat. Every step you take will bring you closer to being who you want to be. Where will you be in a month? six months? a year? Fit your goals to your calendar, and stick to it. Don't expect to see huge results overnight; take the time to change your lifestyle, and you'll change your weight." What better reason to start thinking of our Christmas presents we want to give ourselves, being at or near goal and not doing ourselves in before then......again. We had some good ideas for support in our 4th of July Countdown Challenge which could be incorporated in this challenge for support too: ....pick or add your personal challenge numbers..... 1. eat clean 2. make good choices/eating P1 or P2 3. begin exercising/maintain current exercise and/or add something to your existing plan 4. drink more water 5. set a night time eating curfew 3 hours prior to bedtime 6. set a tentative weight loss number 7. work at managing stress and staying positive 8. no weighing/or weighing only on specific days 9. cut back on artificial sweeteners 10. eat more fiber 11. watch portion sizes 12. stop thinking negatively when the scale doesn't cooperate 13. try to post at least once daily to our SBD forum 14. drink more tea and less diet soda 15. limit whole grains to 3-4 days per week 16. smile more 17. use food journal 18. Try new whole grain recipes 19. do something daily for yourself even if it's something small Okay, ready.......set.........go, let's do this! Let's make this Christmas special! Thinking of the challenge was the first thing on my agenda this morning with my coffee. I got my journal, made my notes, picked my numbers, set my goal, put on my pedometer,
and am ready. After looking back at my weight loss progress, I'm setting into the 140s as my weight goal and I think it's doable with my starting weight being 164 even with 2 holidays we have to bypass along the way. Just as a point of interest, I looked back at last year's journal and currently weigh 11lbs less now than then, woo hoo, that was positive. Last year at Christmas, I weighed 195, don't intend to do that this year. Good luck to all joining in, let's support each other and remember to keep swimming! Marva ![]() |

Hey Ladies, I want to join.
I bought a bag of apples though, and some brown rice earlier this week. I just made my lunch for the week, and it includes brown rice. Hum...guess I'll go ahead and start with phase two maybe. I've started and restarted phase one, with little success. I always seem to move to phase two. So I think that's where I'll stay, and use that to begin the challenge. I sureeeeee hope it works for me this time. I was doing "God's Diet." Where you can eat anything pulled from the ground, picked from a tree, or killed. I dunno. But I do know I want to do this challenge. So I'll have to stop eating my baked potatoes for a while I guess.Current weight: 201 Goals to maintain: Drink at least 64oz water daily...starting tomorrow! Exercise at least three times weekly (especially when you don't have class) Limit brown rice to maybe three times a week Try to be happy about who you are now Check in to the SB Board once daily I guess that's it. Thanks for creating the challenge Marvi! I can't wait until Christmas now!! Blessings, Compassion |
