Good morning everyone!
I don't have much time to post but wanted to thank everyone that commented on my twisted thinking post from yesterday. I'm feeling a bit more confident today and under control which helps. It really stinks when you lose your focus on this journey but I always have my SBD buddies to keep me on track! Thanks a bunch gals!! Today is the second day in a row I didn't do an official work out and as usual the perfectionist in me is rearing her ugly head. I did do a 2 mile power walk at lunch yesterday and will do one again today at lunch but somehow that just doesn't feel like "real" exercise to me. Does that make sense to anyone? That's absolutely silly thinking because if someone would have told me I could walk 2 miles in under 30 minutes I would have laughed at them. Now if I don't do a 40-50 minute work out in the mornings I feel like a failure. This has got to stop. I'm getting way too obsessive. I have to keep repeating to myself - THIS IS FOR LIFE. Not just the way I eat but my exercise routine too. I need to add some variety. Yes I love my cardio and weight training but the power walks are great too. I have to focus on the fact that I am getting some type of exercise in everyday. I have probably exercised more in the past 18 months than I have in the past 18 years, I need to cut myself a break! I hope you all have a lovely day and I'll try to stop back by later! Marva - have a great day sweetie and thanks for the advice yesterday. I plan on having my safe conrolled order of small fries on Saturday and we'll see how that goes. When I started Phase 2, I added 1 item back at a time to see how it effected me. I'll try the same with the fries and that way I'll know if I can have a small portion on vacation in September. You're the best girlie!!! ![]()

Hello everybody, I want you all to know that I cheated last night on a tiny piece of cake. There was some still left from my dad's birthday. I felt so bad after I ate it. Today is a new day and I'm going to do right today
. to all the newbies. I hope you alll have a great SBD day.Last edited by kathymelts : 07-07-2005 at 08:09 AM. |

Way too much time on my hands!

Good morning!
Welcome back Marva. It's nice to see you. Lisa, I understand what you mean about the walking not feeling like exercise. I feel the same way when I do the treadmill. I feel like I'm just walking even though I use a 7% incline. I feel like it's not a true workout. Dh thinks I'm crazy when I say things like that but I can't help the mental part of it. Hi Kathy. I wouldn't worry too much abou tthe cake. It happens sometimes and the best thing you can do is forget about it and get back on track. I saw my doc yesterday and she said I'm completely healed and all restrictions are off. I planned on going to pilates last night but I got food poisoning at lunch and was stuck in bed the rest of the day in pain. I feel much better today. I have a Moms Club meeting in less then an hour and we're meeting friends for lunch. I'm going to do the treadmill tonight since it'll probably be late by the time I can workout. I was sick with a cold all of last week and now both girls have it. I was scared for Paige since she's only seven weeks but she seems to be doing fine. She's congested but can still eat and sleep. Well, I'm going to hop in the shower and get going. Have a great day.

kathy - I agree with Denise. You're back on track and focused so that little piece of cake probably won't make a difference. Doesn't the SBD book say we can have these types of things sparingly? And I know I read on the SBD calendar (someone gave one to me as a gift) one day not too long ago that this program is designed for 'humans'. We all eat things we wished we had not have but this program is pretty forgiving and flexible so as you said, today's a new day!
Denise - I'm so sorry your kids are sick. I hope they feel better soon. It's so scary when you have a sick newborn. Please give paige and your other daughter a great big hug from their Auntie Lisa. I'm also sorry you had food poisoning, yuck! At least your medical restrictions are off and you can work out the way you want to. Thanks for understanding about what I meant with the walking. I'm walking at lunch time today but I feel like it's no big deal. I have to keep telling myself walking 2 miles is a big deal! It takes me a little over 30 minutes and I go at a nice pace and there are small hills involved so cut yourself so slack. We can be so hard on ourselves sometimes. |

Hi
Had an insane day at work yesterday, went out after work (regular weekly thing with people from work) and my boss picked up the tab on my sandwich and most of my 5 beers for my birthday. They kept ordering them for me and I certainly didn't mind after a work day like that. Thing is - I went home and cracked open a few more beers.....but down 2 pounds this morning (clears out your system
). Nice thing though was that a former babysitter dropped off a nice b-day present for me - quote book and picture frame, she is soooooo sweet! I have been very down lately, thanks marvi , and I am going to try hard to change my attitude - be more upbeat and try to get out of this dang rut. Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Renee |

Renee - I'm going to try to pull myself out of the negative rut I find myself in too! We will do this together. So you are saying the secret to getting these final pounds off is lots of beer. Hmm, sounds good to me!

First of all, I want to say a big ol' happy birthday to both Renee and Marva!!!
I was a little distracted and in a hurry yesterday, but I hope you both had a great special day!!! Marva - it's so great to have you back. We missed you too, I hope you had a really great time. Lisa - I haven't read your twisted thinking thread yet, but I hear you on having friends on this board help you out. I went through that obsessive phase and had to try really hard to be ok with doing less exercise. Of course months later, I'm doing none, and I am feeling uncomfortable about some of my trouble spots. So, don't do what I did and stop completely!!! I know you can find that perfect balance for yourself. Kathy - today is a new day. Put the past behind you and keep moving forward. Denise - Sorry your girls are sick, and that sucks about getting food poisoning. Hope today is better for you and have a great time at Mom's ClubRenee - good job on being down 2 lbs, and it sounds like you got a few nice surprises for your birthday. I know how hard it is to post sometimes when you're feeling bad, but we love to hear from you. Hope you feel differently soon. I hopped on the scale this morning and was extremely surprised to see 122!!! OMG I haven't seen 122 since before graduation, I don't think. I have no idea what I did differently, except I was extremely stressed and stayed pretty busy. I'm having trouble coming to terms with the "it's for life" aspect of this and knowing that I'm going to have to keep making decisions every day. I wish some switch would flip in my head and it would suddenly be easy for me to stay on track and not overeat without consciously thinking about it. On another note, my interviews went well (at least one of them did, I'm not so sure about the other) and I'm expecting a call back sometime today from that firm. ![]() |
