rant about construction!!!

sorry this has nothing to do with SBD but i am grumpy
they are doing construction all around me and they just started to build the foundation for the house behind me..... well they are using my back yard as a personal supply area and parking lot, there are big piles of wood and trash, not to mention big ruts and tire marks in my yard
there are also coming over and unscrewing my sprinkler and using my water *****et (sp?) all day. it just makes me mad that they did not even ask if they can use it. they are splattering muddy water on the side of my house and leaving marks, oh and are too lazy to put the sprinkler back on the hose after they disconnect it.
i am probably getting annoyed over something so trivial, but i feel like they are taking advantage of me, oh and technically stealing my water( )
i am thinking of just getting in one of their trucks that are parked in my backyard and just "using" it for a while like they are my stuff
Sorry for the rant but i do feel better now!!!

You have every right to rant and complain. They have NO right to use your property or water. I would first tell them to stop and if they don't, call your police and township offices and report them. Builders have to stay on their own property and no way are they allowed to used anyone elses utilities but their own.

Go b---h to the head guy/gal. If that doesn't work, blow the whisle!! Why should you have to pay for their water use and why should you have to repair you lawn because of them.

Give them hell!!

Hi! I'm a lurker, but I just HAD to speak up on this one. I used to work for a roofing contractor, and any local construction company that wants to stay in business will make that situation right. Call the company and speak to someone in their office and tell them what is going on. I'd be willing to bet they put a stop to it real quick, and they'll fix the damage to your yard also. We had to fix damage to turf, to sidewalks, and replace tires flattened by running over nails that fell during the course of a roofing project. You don't have to put up with that! Tell em' I said so!

Oh yeah, hi everybody! I've been on SBD since 6/1, lost 14 lbs. (WOO HOO!). I frequent another LC board, but I come here almost everyday to see what you all are eating, and what you're doing for exercise and such. Maybe I'll post a real introduction a little later. Bye!

Well,

If they are leaving anything of value at all on your property... take it.

I still have a great set of tools from the construction of a house next door to me. They kept leaving all their debris in my yard, which I would move to the middle of the under-construction house each night for them to have to clean out the next day before they could work on the house.

One of the sub-contractors decided to leave a very nice tool set on my property one night which found its way to the inside of my garage. They asked about it the next day and I told them I did not know anything about their toolbox but it just so happened that someone gave me a toolbox the night before by leaving it on my land... and it was a present I would not be giving up.

After that, there was not so much as a wayward branch left on my property.

Construction guys will get away with whatever you allow them to get away with. Put your foot down, and I mean in a big way, and it will end.

Another thing you can do is post a no parking sign in your yard and if they do try to park there, have them towed.

And dump any and all garbage you have in the middle of the work area every night.

And for god's sake, send them a bill for the use of your water.

just wanted to update everyone on this.... my neighbor told me she saw them actually filling up wheelbarrows worth of water from my water, so i finally snapped and went to the office.
the "head" guy happened to be there when i went and he said he already knew that they had used my water and he had already yelled at them and threatened their job if he caught them doing it again....but he thought they had used it to drink and wash their hands from
i explained to him that a neighbor saw them filling up wheelbarrows worth of water.. he told me that if my water bill was high to bring it to the office and they would pay the difference for me.
i also got him to move the big box that they put their leftover pieces of wood and trash in from my yard to the yard they are actually working on.
i told him that they were parking in my back yard (which they had already smoothed over the tire marks and ruts)...i have not put down the sod in my backyard yet because i was worried about putting it down and then them doing construction at that house and my sod getting messed up
he told me he was glad i had not put down my sod becuase they would have had to pull it back up because the back of my yard is too high?? and they have to smooth it down to create a well??SP?
anyway just wanted to let everyone know i feel better about all of this now and he was very nice and apoligetic for the water thing
