I've switched and am finding the portion control hard on the whole grains. Also, it's easier to "cheat" since in the book it says to have a little of what you want, then get back on track...well, that mentality has given me too much freedom. I'm LOVING the whole grains, but I haven't lost any more weight. I'm 15 lbs from goal. I think it would be great for maintenance.

I went the little bit route, the little bit won't hurt. I went to nuts with that for a couple years and now I am all right with the portion control of whole grains. I usually eat half of what they call a serving and it's enough for me. I don't really like pasta that much. I eat whole wheat organic grains, sprouted sometimes. I do not scrimp on the whole of the wheat, I buy the freshest, most organic, least muddled with food I can find. I went SB, my way, because I cannot believe a hotdog made by man is more healthy than an orange made by mama. That is just an example of how I feel. I personally think SB is closer to a healthy eating plan. So many processed foods are bad for you, I feel. When I did Atkins I ate too many processed foods, more than ever before and seemed to get a sensitivity to most of them. Not Atkins fault. My fault.

MikeUA, I think that if you are having some problems staying on Atkins b/c of the food choices, you may find SB a little easier to stay on, eventually you do get fruit and some whole grains. I agree with the other posters who see SB as a better way to eat and a long term wol. I personally have not tried Atkins, I know I couldn't live it (and no offense to Atkins, it is just me) so I saw SB as a good long term solution.

If you've been doing Atkins, you may want to skip phase one on SB and go to phase two, adding a serving or two per week of new things till you notice your weight loss stall.
