Two week results, "on the fence"LOL

hello to all,
Well I've done phase I, the first week I lost 4 lbs, and the second week, 1 lb, for a total of FIVE, with following diet exactly. I did nothing differently the second week from the first, except I deleted the V-8 juice at breakfast,YUKKKK, featured on the br. menus, and subbed NF yoghurt for the snack sometimes. I was a bit miffed due to obsessing over the 8-13 lbs promised weight loss, but then realized that five lbs in 14 days is pretty good, although the second week unexplained slowdown still worries me. I plan to continue Phase 1 for two more weeks,
cause I don't want any more slowdowns.

My question to you all is, have any of you had similar experiences, with less than the "8 to 13" bit?

There is ALWAYS a slowdown in the second week.

Don't panic, you are doing great.

hi

I'm in a similiar situation with a few differences.

First week I love 2.5 lbs, but was eating low fat pudding (which is not a phase 1 food), that was just an ERROR on my part.

Week two, I got my period and didn't lose any more weight.

Today is the start of week three and i'm very discouraged. I'm trying to stay positive and even went to they gym during lunch.

What have you been doing?

debussy - you don't list your stats in your post so I can't tell how much total weight you need or want to lose. In the case of the 8-13 pound weight loss during Phase 1, I think it depends on your starting weight. I lost 14 pounds in the first two weeks but I weighed 282.5 pounds when I started. The first week I lost 10.5 pounds and the second week I lost 3.5 pounds and I didn't eat any different the second week. I haven't seen a 3.5 pound weight loss again. Right now that I am close to my goal, I haven't had a weight loss in over a month. I think it's definitely one of those "your mileage may vary" type of things.

i experienced the same thing.... i have been on SB for a little over a month but i have lost 14lbs in that time.. i too hope to lose that in the 1st 2 weeks... but you just have to sit back and think for a minute, that is over 3lbs a week just by changing my diet
like everyone else is saying.. i think the more weight you have to lose the faster it comes off in the beginning
and remember most say that 1-2lbs loss a week is a "healthy" weight loss. so dont be discuraged
Guess i will add the dreaded line.... we didnt put on the weight overnight so we cant expect to lose it that quickly

Congratulations on losing 5lbs. That is really great. I lost 4lbs the first week and 3lbs on the second week. Don't get discouraged because I'm sure you will reach your goal in no time.

Jumped over the fence! (update)

Thanks to all for support and advice! Overnight I lost another two lbs, for a two week total of SEVEN!!!! I feel great, eating lots of green leafy veggies. Spinach (fresh, stir fried lightly) seems to help, it's actually Popeye brand LOL.I can move so much easier now, run up stairs, fewer aches and pains etc.
I lost about 20 lbs on Atkins but stalled out and neeed a break so switched to SBD. I'm at 177.5 now, wanting to get back to my pre-kids weight of 135 for 5.5 or 5.6 depending on how much I am slumping with my belly out! Onwards!

I went to South Beach from Atkins because I was stalled. Because of that, I didn't have that whoosh of water weight. I did drop four pounds the first week, however, which was pretty great. Since then, I have had far too many opportunities to eat out and I think that even when I make good choices, the salt and preservatives in restaurant foods hurts my weight loss. I'm also and endomorphic body type, so I definitely need to work out more than I have been.

What a great support crew we are!

I'm rooting for you all. What nice people you are! Thanks, kathymelts, for the kind words. Guess what, we just moved from Tennessee, we were there a year for work but then the old layoff came, and we had to move to Ohio. I liked TN a lot, but jobs were few and far between, and try eating healthy when you're on a zilch budget. Course, I was on Atkins then, kind of low budget Atkins, but was trying to convince myself that eggs and balogna would get me through, it didn't LOL, got to the point where I got to feeling hostile at the sight of a dozen eggs ( more LOL). Then I would go to the grocery store ( the major one in TN), and I hope this gives you all a belly laugh, they regularly have the various depts set up with music or sound effects piped in. You walk by Dairy, and there is a sound effects of a mooing cow, the egg sections has chickens clucking, and the gosh darn lettuces are being sprayed with water that gets you wet while you hear waterfall noises. I like to jumped out of my skin the first time I heard the moo's, as I, was usually comatose with exhaustion by the time I went grocery shopping, and thinking yeah, Debussy, you've really gone over the edge now. Anyway, I heard that belly laughs reduce midriff fat. eh?

I too had a slow down on the second week of phase two. I'm figuring that the first week was at least half water (perhaps more, LOL) weight and so I was ready for the slow down in week two, but it is great to hear the same from other folks, just so I know I'm doing it all "right"
