Very disappointed

Hey everyone!

I've been following this SB diet perfectly.

I weighted 155 at the start.
On day 8 I weighed 152
And day 12 I weighed 153.5, but I had my period at the end of the week and this past weekend.
I weighed myself this morning (DAY 15) and Im still at 153.5.

That would mean I lost 1.5 lbs total which seems very low. Do you think it's just the water retention from being that time of the month?

I need some major encouragement, I'm very disappointed

Thanks,
Natalie

Natalie,

I'm so sorry you haven't seen better results during Phase 1. Are you working out? I know water retention as you're building muscle can be a factor. I lost 14 pounds during Phase 1 but I was very obese. Considering you are trying to lose around 20 pounds, it may be a longer and slow process to get your extra weight off.

I have 15 pounds I want to lose and can't. It seemed like when I was at my heaviest, I could eat whatever I wanted (OP of course) and I was losing 1.5 to 3 pounds per week. I got really spoiled with that. Now I bounce around between 175-179 but never any lower, no matter what I do! I would say hang in there. Go to Phase 2 where you can have more variety and eat a bit more "normal". Drink your water, lots and lots of it. Don't give up on the exercise. Are you measuring yourself? I may not be losing pounds on the scale, but my favorite skirt slips off my hips without unzipping it now and I can fit into a pair of capri shorts that in May I could barely get over my hips. Our bodies do change with a lower carb program, sometimes the changes are not reflected on the scale.

I hope something I have said encourages you and I'm sure you'll get lots of other encouraging words from other beach babes! Please hang in there. I would say losing 1.5 pounds is way better than either gaining 1.5 pounds or staying the same weight.

I'm so glad that you posted this natalie. I feel exactly the same way. I've been following the diet exactly and after week one I'm only down 2 lbs. But, I too had my period and it just ended. I actually took a water pill this morning and I'm hoping that if I was retaining water, this will help. I just feel like I'm doing something wrong since I see so many other people posting that they lost 7 pounds the first week!

i would agree that it seems to make a difference if you have 100 pounds to lose rather than 20 pounds, i've heard from lots of people that the closer to goal weight they get, the slower the weight loss is, so hang in there, it will come off!!

Just a thought.....think about how long it took to put the weight on.....now think about how fast we all want it to come off!!!

Have faith, stick to plan and see what happens after another 2 weeks. Bet you will be surprised!

I have the exact same stats as you. I stalled out on SB once I got to 150.5 or so. This time, I'm doing Atkins to try to break through the 150 barrier. I'm finding I'm a little stalled on Atkins, too. I think maybe your body hangs on tight to that last 20.
