help with my marathon diet! please

OH MY GOD. I did it. that's it. done. I am officially doing it!!! I'm still a little in shock, can u tell?

i figured if i was running 4-6 miles a day, easily... why not have an amazing goal and just go for it! I'm 24 and if i'm going to ever do it, this is the best time!!! right?!!

It's January 29 in Miami - south beach- how fitting.
That's 6 months to train.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. especially in the diet departement

Right now i follow a south beach style, though i'm not perfect at it. I have about 10 lbs to lose, but i also want to be properly fueled for my training.

right now my diet looks mostly like this (i know it needs help so please make suggestions!)

breakfast at 9 : 1 g Carb Protein Shake (sometimes a little bit of dry kashi go lean (about 30 g)

lunch: salad with 2-3 oz meat, 1 low carb yogurt

snack at 5: yogurt again

pre workout snack at 6: kashi go lean and swig of milk (just to wet it) couple nuts

Run

after run: fruit and low carb toast

dinner: varies but is usually 3-4 oz meat, a veggie, a bit of snacking on more kashi (i know too much kashi!!) mixed greens and sancking on nuts

dessert: low carb yogurt with berries or a protein shake and piece of fruit.

usually 1 alcoholic beverage ssuch as wine or a 1 oz shot in diet soda

i plan to cut the alcohol as much as possible. either all together or 1-2x week

my total cals are areound 1400-1600 which i've been maintaing on, if not gaining a tiny bit so i think i need to cut a bit.

please help. I'm only in training of between 4 and 8 miles a day so far but i'm going to have to increase them very soon.

i have never ran a marathon.. so not sure i can really help but the one thing i did see was your post workout snack, maybe you should add some protein in with it
i dont know if it would be good to cut your calories any... especially if your are going to be increasing your training time
hope this helps

Wow! I'm not an endurance runner yet, still working on my 5K time, but I just wanted to pat you on the back and wish you the best. I'm wondering if the ladies on the BFL board might have some good advice for eating for a marathon. Also, do you go to http://www.coolrunning.com/ ? The people there are super helpful. I haven't been in for a while, but I"m hockeywifeca over there.
