A few questions....

So, I started the diet today! So far so good! The breakfast in the first two weeks is going to be hard But other then that, I am ok!
1) can i have up to 75 calories of sweets in the first phase? The sugar free fudge bars, popcicles ect?

2) nuts, how many servings a day can I have?

3) what do you think of the frozen meals that say it is ok for phase 1? I bought some, but wanted some opnions....

Hi jojo

We're so glad you've joined us....breakfast isn't my thing either but you'll do fine.

The Phase 1 food list sticky at the top of the forum index is really all you need as far as food choices, etc.

1. Yes,
SWEET TREATS
(Limit to 75 calories per day)

Candies, hard, sugar-free
Chocolate powder, no-added-sugar
Cocoa powder, baking type
Fudgsicles, no sugar added
Gelatin, sugar-free
Gum, sugar-free
Popsicles, sugar-free

Some Sugar Free Products may be made with sugar alcohols (isomalt, lactitol, mannitol, sorbitol or xylitol) and are permitted on the SBD. They may have associated side effects of GI distress (abdominal pain, diarrhea & gas) if consumed in excessive amounts.

2. nuts, one serving a day as follows:
NUTS AND SEEDS
(Limit to one serving per day as specified)

Almonds - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)
Brazil Nuts - 4
Cashews - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)
Flax Seed - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Macadamia - 8 (Dry roasted recommended)
Peanut Butter, Natural = 2 TBS
Peanuts, 20 small (May use dry roasted or boiled)
Pecans - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)
Pine Nuts (Pignolia) - 1 ounce
Pistachios - 30 (Dry roasted recommended)
Pumpkin Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Sesame Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Sunflower Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)
Walnuts - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)

3. I think the frozen foods are mainly for P2 and beyond aren't they? If they have grains, etc. they aren't for Phase 1 but I don't know if they come out with any new ones since I last saw the list, someone on the board will help on this.

Good luck!

Yes some of the frozen dinners do say ok for phase 1. But I just wondered so what are some other good snack ideas? I had some cheese today and i just had some pistachios ( 30 )...It is hard after I put the kids to bed.. i will want to snack and watch some TV..Today I had
2 eggs ( hard boiled) 3 small rounds of canidian bacon 1 cheese stick, 2 pickles, salad with some chicken for lunch, and chicken with onions and peppers for dinner, ( and a salad) just had some nuts and I know i will want a little snack later.
I made that ricotta cheese stuff~ YUCK I made the turkey wraps, and i will try them later...

Does peanut butter count as my nut serving? I used some in the ricotta cheese dish, and it just made me think, cause I did not see peanut butter on the food list!
The food list is great!!!! I printed it out and took it with me to the store! Thanks so much!

My snacks are really quite limited to kind of what you're eating, I got lucky enough to try a night eating curfew, the cut off being 7:30 and it's worked since February. I just drink water and nothing after that time. Dr. A's snack ideas are about all I've explored.

I'm sure there are places to keep an online one, I just use one of those small daily planners, they are set up with a whole page per day and I get all my info in each day. It doesn't have to be fancy, just something that will work for you.

The peanut butter is in the nut list......

Take care and explore, you'll enjoy what you learn.

Good luck!
