Hours worth of aerobic exercise in only 25 minutes...
Hey everyone,
I've been trying a new aerobic exercise routine for the past few weeks and am ready to pass this info along. Another doctor told me about the benefits of this particular routine for exercising and swore I'd feel "the burn" more after 25 minutes than I normally do after spending more than an hour doing cardio. My exercise tool of choice is the elliptical machine. I used to spend over an hour three times a week on it working up a great sweat. My new 25 minute routine: Start out at an intensity level of 5 (With one being no resistance and 10 being the most resisitance you can handle.) Do the first two minutes at the level 5 intensity. Then, in one minute increments, raise to 6, then 7, then 8, then 9... after one minute at 9 drop back down to 6 and do 6-9 over again 3 times. After the fourth time at #9, increase to 10 for one minute then drop back down to 5 for three minutes and 3 for three minutes. So the routine is: Minute Intensity 1 5 2 5 3 6 4 7 5 8 6 9 7 6 8 7 9 8 10 9 11 6 12 7 13 8 14 9 15 6 16 7 17 8 18 9 19 10 20 5 21 5 22 5 23 3 24 3 25 3 The idea is that this assists in building muscle and will continue to burn calories for over an hour after ending the exercise routine. Since I began this a few weeks ago, my strength and endurance has increase significantly and my muscle is building and the loose flab is melting away. With weight lifting and entire body stretching, I can now get done working out in an hour where I was going two or more hours three days a week... and my routine is much more efficient. Anyway, just thought I'd pass this on.

Great
I've actually had a trainer recommend this to me years ago. Thanks for reminding me about it. I remember feeling the burn and feeling that the 25 minutes were like 50 minutes (in a good way).
All the best, Natalie |

Way too much time on my hands!

Thanks for the post. I'm going to try it in another few weeks. I see my doc in 2 1/2 weeks and I should get the ok to up my exercise. Right now I'm on the treadmill for 40 minutes at a 6% incline. I'd like to continue with the treadmill and get up to an hour at 8% incline minimum but I want to switch it up with other cardio workouts and I used to do the elliptical all of the time. This will be great since I'm going back to school in a little over a month and have 2 young kids. I already plan on doing weights twice a week like I used to.
