Hi everyone!
I was so proud of myself yesterday. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but a big hurdle for me is doing exercise (other than playing softball). I have a hard time MAKING myself get in a workout. Anyway, last night DH went to his dad's house to work on our jetski (changing oil, etc.) so I had the TV to myself. Instead of sitting down and watching an hour of 30-Minute Meals (LOVE that show - btw, Rachel Ray has a great LC cookbook out and most of the meals are SB friendly from what I can tell), I popped in a workout DVD - Crunch: Fat-Burning Pilates. 40 mins of standing+mat pilates routines. Then I started doing the Self Magazine DVD - Bikini Ready in 4 weeks dvd, but didn't have any hand weights so I just watched the moves so I could encorporate some of the movements in at the gym. SOO glad to finally get moving again! DH said he's gonna be late coming home again tonight...planning on the DVD again! Hope everyone is doing well - weigh-in is tomorrow...I'm super nervous. Started at 156 last Friday. DH told me this morning he's lost about 5 pounds since Sunday...MEN LOL. He loses weight so easily - wish I had his metabolism! Have a great day!!!! ( I say as I CHUUUUUG a bunch of water all day long!!!) |

Guys.... I need help.
Ugh, and it is TOM related. Mostly when I get cravings. I had a hard time last night, and I wasn't prepared. I never had TOM before, (was on depo for 5 years and am off it now) so I never experienced the craving factor on the Atkins WOE..... I realize that I need to be stronger when TOM comes, and it is funny because I never dealt with this before (and I am not happy about it anymore).... So my question: What can I do on this WOE to make me feel better during TOM as well as cut off some of the bloating with foods I eat???? I am still on Phase 1.. week two... but I am doing it for 2 weeks and a 1/2. TIA. ![]()

Jenny - It's really hard to fight the bloating during TOM, at least for me it is. I swell in my fingers and everything - it totally sucks. Drink LOTS AND LOTS of water...exercise, it'll help tame your appetite and the sweating will help with some of the swelling. Keep fresh veggies cleaned and cut up, ready to go if you get a sudden pang of hunger (i.e. celery sticks). I also have a bag of SF lifesavers that I can pop in my mouth (only 30 calories for 4 or 5 of them) if I need something to satisfy my sweet tooth really fast. Hope this helps - you're doing great girl. Stick with it!

Morning SBD-ers!
Today is the last day of training...yay!! It's training for my volunteer work, but it's been pretty boring and repetitive, since it's all stuff i've learned along the way anyway. This afternoon i'm thinking of going to the mall to get some clothes...both for DD and myself. fun!! traci: congrats on getting your exercise in!!!!!!! you're going to be so addicted to it soon.. jenny: definitely just hang in there, and drink lots of water. you may just have to have some SF chocolate around for certain cravings.. Hi to everyone else coming on soon!!!!

and i was strong and did not taste one---whooohoooo Jenny--- on the TOM issue, i am 3 weeks into the SB WOE and i just finished my TOM, i actually did not feel as bloated as i normally do. i finally decided to try to switch to phase 2... i bought a couple of the SB pizzas to try and i also bought some apples to start adding to my meal....will see how that works have a great day all ![]() |

Hey, beach bunnies.
Marvi--Thanks for starting this post--I sorta look forward to it each day... Traci--your enthusiasm for exercise is inspiring--way to go! rola--hope you find cheapo cheapo beautiful clothes--good luck! They closed my favorite store in town, waaaaaaa. jenny--I don't have the plumbing anymore and I'd have to say it's wonderful! Personally, I used to take a B6 vitamin, which I'd heard helped chase the blues--it worked for me. Maybe you should try that. Everyone else--Have a great SB day. Jeepers |

Hello, I'm still here and doing good. I almost got into some strawberry cheese cake yesterday. I thought about it for a fews mins. and then I was like no way I'm not doing it this time. I usually give in and say well I'll start over tomorrow but I didn't. I don't know about you all but I'm getting to the point where I don't want much to eat. I didn't want breakfast this morning. I did eat 2 boiled eggs. and coffee. Did anybody feel like that at the begining?
I hope everybody have a great day. ![]()

Good morning Beach Babes!
You are doing so well. It's great coming to our thread each day and getting updates on everyone's progress. I'm doing fine. Haven't been staying off the scale like I'm supposed to but since the scale is down another 1/2 pound this morning I'm a happy camper. It's weird. Some weeks I can eat totally clean, hardly any wheat products lots of water and not lose a thing or even be up pound or two. Then there are weeks I can eat sugar free ice cream every night, drink little water and get lax with my exercise and I'll be down a pound or two. Strange. Anyway, I'm meeting a coworker for lunch and we're grabbing grilled chicken cesear salads for lunch. I'm looking forward to seeing her. We haven't gotten together in a few weeks. She is supposed to be on SBD too but I don't think she's doing well with the program. I won't bring it up if she doesn't. Marva - Hi sweetie! I hope you enjoyed spending time with your grandson yesterday. It was great to "hear" from you and thanks again for cropping that pic of me. Traci - I'm a big believe in working out and it sounds like you got a good one in yesterday. I love working out at home. It's so much more convenient for me than a gym. You're doing great girlie, keep it up!!!! Jenny - I agree with the exercise to help with the bloating and the water too. I also have to watch my salt intake around TOM, the least bit of salt I eat and my ring starts to get tight and so do my shoes. Yuck, I hate that feeling. I also keep sugar free lifesavers (butter toffee) in my purse and sugar free gum for when I just want to have something sweet in my mouth but don't want a whole lot of calories. I know TOM is a tough time but you can get through it! rola - your time sounds great! I am so proud of you - I've told you before but you are my exercise inspiration!!! Have fun shopping! ana - congrats on passing up those cookies! It's amazing the freedom of eating the right carbs and fats give you from junk food. You have the freedom to train yourself not to want that stuff anymore. I love the SBD pizza. It's so yummy and I missed pizza crust a lot. Just be careful as prepackaged foods have been known to stall some people. Fortunately, I'm not one of them! Jeepers - you have a great day on the Beach too! How are things going with you? Kathy - great job in passing up that strawberry cheesecake. You are doing so well. Your attitude is the best! We simply cannot afford the "I'll start again tomorrow" thinking. I can't tell you how many times in the past that type of thinking has sabotaged my weight loss efforts. I was determined not to think that way this time. Every bite does count! Every off plan meal does set you back a bit! I don't recall going through a time when I wasn't all that hungry on the program and didn't want to eat. I always want to eat (ha!). My husband went through a period like that and it scared me. He would eat a slice of whole wheat toast and 1/2 cup of 1% milk for breakfast, a salad for lunch and very little dinner. He would say he just didn't have an appetite. Fortunately, it only lasted a week or two and he was back to normal but I didn't like that phase he went through at all. Hopefully, it's just a short phase for you too. ![]() Jessica - it's been a week already? Wow! Congratulations for making it. I know my first 4-5 days were pretty tough but it got easier after that. Keep up the great work!! Hi to everyone that hasn't posted yet!

Thanks for the snack suggestions yesterday. I bought some peanuts and string cheese at Target for my office snacks so I wasnt' so STARVING after work. I found a Hardees on my way to my interview and had them make me a Low carb burger. It was HIGH in fat, but no flour or sugar. They put the burger between some big lettuce leaves so you can actually pick it up and eat it like a burger (plus it adds a little bit of veggies!) I actually love my burgers that way. I was nervous about my interview yesterday, something that almost never affects me, and I was craving a chocolate shake big time, but I resisted with the help of my friend, Paula, (who is doing Phase 1 with me). She slapped my hand (literally) and told me I couldn't.
The interview went great. I could really see myself teaching there. I should hear something within the next week or so. I am trying not to get too excited about it. My friend who I am running the 5k with lives in the town where the school is, which would be really fun. We already are talking about if I get the job how we are going to train/run together! Jenny--you can do it. I made the mistake of starting Phase 1 at the very beginning of TOM. I felt like crud because of TOM and going off sugar, etc. I made it, you can too. I highly recommend sugar free chocolate pudding for chocolate cravings. It also gets some dairy in. Be careful of sugar free candy. It makes you pay Big time if you eat too much. Kathy and Ana - way to go on resisting temptation. Gotta get back to work. sorry I didnt' get to personals for everyone. Have a great one. beth

Go ahead and pat yourself on the back Tracy, good going! The exercise sounds like lots of fun...is it not awesome when we see and feel ourselves changing both mentally and physically. Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow.
(((Jen))), on Tom, so glad he doesn't visit me anymore. Just do the best you can, eat protein and veggies. Tracy's ideas are so good....Make up a pot of veggie soup, eat all you want, put a T of olive oil in a bowl, eat something with fiber for that full feeling. Better to eat too much of the good things when under stress and dealing with the girlie issues than get lost in the bad stuff and then be upset even more after he's gone. Hope you can get some rest, that helps. Rola, you are so awesome, support, exercise, helping others. Have fun shopping and we want to hear about it when you get back! Yah on your finish time! You too ana, ohm, how great is that to pass on the cookies, every victory is a step toward winning the war! Hope you enjoy P2, I think you will..... Thanks so much Jeepers....I do too, SBD is so great, meeting all of you guys and having you join in with us just gives us more support and makes us stronger too. What fun the forum is! Hope you have a great day! Kathy, good going on not getting in the stuff, that's awesome, it isn't easy, especially right at first when we still have the sugar imbalance and haven't had time to form new habits. Yes, I feel that way sometimes. Is this way of eating not the best! Everything is so balanced which makes for a more balanced us! Hi Jessica! What a great SBDer you are! I hope all goes well with you too. Yah Lisa, I am soooooo glad things are positive for you. Yah on the weight loss and you're welcome! Do you really realize how awesome you are in this forum? Thank you girlfriend, no one deserves success with SBD more than you. Have a fun lunch with your girlfriend, nice of you not to bring that up too! A little about me today, I've got to get mega busy, will be leaving next Wednesday morning and won't be back until late July 5th of 6th. It's going to be fun, I'm excited and yet I think, jeez, I would be so secure staying home and being in control of my food and surroundings but I know I'll do fine, just got to remember, this way of eating is not a short-term deal, it's forever. Past time to start checking the wardrobe out, trying on things again but I'm consider myself so fortunate to have gotten control of that madness I was in late last year and my last year's summer clothing fit. I also need to secure the homefront for DH so he'll have things to eat, etc. as he isn't going. I'll be with DS, DDIL and DGS. I'm so lucky, my kiddos are really health food/exercise conscious and are always ready to help Mom out so I can't blame anything I do bad on them . I'll be missing in action some here on the boards this next week, and am wondering who wants get the Check In Thread up for a while and while I'm gone, anyone want to volunteer, and when do you want to begin starting it? Well, DD1 has just dropped by, had to have a root canal done this morning so I need to check on her. Hi to all who follow, Love you guys! Marva ![]() Edited to say hi to you Beth, your post snuck in under me. Glad you did good yesterday! Last edited by justmarvi : 06-16-2005 at 10:07 AM. |

I'm not losing...
I switched from about 20 carbs a day, very low carb, high fat way of eating (lost weight and felt great for 1 year) to South Beach 1 week ago.
I exercise (30 min. cardio and 20 min toning 3-4/week). I havent lost any weight , nor do my clothes feel any different. Here is my FitDay: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...tml?Owner=mrce Any ideas? Does my body need to catch up to this new way of eating? Thanks!! |

Hi Jackie, this is a great support crew! Thanks for your support too!
mre, I think that's pretty common when one is coming off another weight loss program. I don't think many have a really rapid weight loss under those circumstances. If you feel you have the sugar/carb craving under control, why don't you try doing your own like 1.5 version, basically P1 with just a tad of P2, working a plan that might give you a jump start. Drink lots of water too. Getting really familiar with program really helps, I learn something everytime I read it! Good luck! Well, I'm happy with the results of my closet/clothing thing I've been doing today getting ready for my trip , I'm all set with the exception of a couple pairs of shorts. ![]() BBL, Marva Last edited by justmarvi : 06-16-2005 at 01:45 PM. |

Okay, I'm new to all this, but I really like this site... everybody is helping to keep me on track!
I'm on my second week of Phase 1, and it's going well.... (I've had a couple of false starts before... I'd start for a month, lose weight, get excited and go back to my old habits)... I'm determined! I get married in a month, and I just want to feel good on that day; no drastic changes, just a few lbs so that I feel thinner. I'm also upping my water intake.. trying to limit my Diet Cokes, it's a bad addiction... Hope everybody has a great day!! |
