Phase One ? How many servings from

each food group are you supposed to have daily for weight loss? I think I saw two dairy, but I can't find specifics for the others. I know fruit is not allowed.

I've read that up to two cups of dairy is allowed per day, but certainly not required.

My personal menu was

Protein: Unlimited
Vegetables: minimum 1/2 cup for breakfast and minimum 2 cups for lunch and dinner.
Fruit: none
Breads: none
Milk/Dairy: none
Fat: 1 tsp to 1 tbl of oil/fat.

This is not exactly South Beach but is close and worked very well for me.

I'm going to quote Marva from another thread, since her post was excellent and answered this question according to SB principles:

The main thing is to eat these things in moderate amounts until satisfied:
lean meats,
green leafy, other good vegetables and legumes,
no corn, potatoes, beets
good/health oils,
low fat cheese, low fat milk if desired
a few nuts if desired
eggs
no sugar
no refined white food like flour, etc.

First we build our way of eating around those things and then add in the things we want that are program.

Then in Phase 2
--by trial and error--we can add the things (one at a time) like whole grains, fruits, etc. (lower glycemic index choices) that we find we can add back in without cravings or gaining and still lose or maintain weight.

If we eat a food item that causes a problem we just drop it from our food choices for the time being, and add something else if we want to.

We just do away with the bad foods that actually trigger cravings and make us hungry and unhealthy and eat the good kinds that nourish our body as they help us lose weight...plenty of good carbs and fats and delicious, healthy foods.

He gives us the food list, it's up to us to work our own individual plan and no two will be the same.

Hope this helps, relax and be happy!

Marva
What a great post, Marva. Good luck, Kitchen.
