Post-workout foods

Hi everyone - I know that there was a pre-workout foods thread going...this is along the same lines.

Due to our family's schedule, my workout time is consistently at 7pm. I usually eat a light dinner around 5, but then when I get home from the gym (usually around 8 or a little after) i'm ravenous. Even if I've downed 32oz + water, I'm still hungry for real food. Tonight I had some cucumber slices with dill dip after my workout. I'm just a little afraid of not wanting to eat too late, so I don't want to have anything TOO big. Should I go with a protein shake maybe? or something similar?

What I do is go to Smoothie King and get one of their low-carb smoothies. They are made with protein powders only and do not contain fruit, which is a no-no on phase 1.

They are delicious and very filling.

But any lean protein will do a good job cutting the cravings after workout.

Phase 1:

I make a protein shake with whey or soy protein isolate powder.

Low fat ricotta 1/8 cup or 1/4 cup skim milk
1 scoop or 2 of powder and some ice.

Thanks everyone! I just got back from the grocery store, and my friend had also recommended tuna fish (in water) or other similar lean protein things..so i stocked up on things like that. I should be set!
