Good morning.

Just popping in to say hi. I finished the book. I'll be starting with phase 2 in a week or so. I have to build my shopping list first.

Just wanted to wish you a great day!

Hey y'all!

Just wanted to say hi - Still pluggin' along on SB! DH & I went out to eat last night, but we went to Ruby Tuesdays and I had the salad bar w/lotsa lettuce, mushrooms, other veggies, cheese, a lil bit of bacon bits, black beans and lite ranch. I felt ok with it - I think that was probably the best choice I could have made there. Does anyone else go out to eat frequently? What kind of choices do you make?

I've stayed off the scale since Monday!!! I'm so proud of myself - it's been awhile since I've stayed off the scale - usually once a day - lol. I'm off of it til Friday. for a whoosh!

Have a great day everyone!

So it's day three for me and I am feeling pretty good. When should I start to see results? I already feel like I have lost a lot of water weight, which is actually fine, because I am on a med. that causes me to retain water.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the boards! This is my second post. I started the SB diet on Monday and have been EXHAUSTED. I've been back to the gym ---this is my second week. I believe the low/no carb coupled with the exercising is knocking my socks off.

What do you all think of my diet?

9:30am: egg whites, two slices of bacon
coffee with skim and three equals

12:00pm: gym for one hour

1:15pm: Salad with almonds, avocado pieces, broccoli, a little shredded cheese (regular), cucumbers, string beans, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

3:30pm: 15 almonds or 30 pistachio
coffee with skim and three equals

7m/10pm: either chicken with veggies or a microwaveable veggie dish.

PM: sugar free jello "or" sugar free pudding

Lots of water all day.

Thanks for your support,
Natalie

Morning everyone...time to get ready to go to training again. Some of the classes are fun, and others are very repetitive. Ugh. At least I've been bringing my own food, and not had a problem with it.

traci: congrats for staying off the scale! mine has gone into the closet until the 1st. i just hate focusing on the scale all the time, and letting that affect my mood.

just4peas: sounds good!!! welcome again!

heavinbride: just keep doing what you've been doing, and you'll definitely see results. KUTGW!!

natalie: welcome!

BBL today after a trip to the grocery store as well...

Good morning all. Life at work has slowed down a bit so I can pop in from time to time.

I have a job interview tonight that I have to drive a ways to. Any suggestions for fast food I can eat while driving AND fits the plan (phase 1)? I am planning to eat a later afternoon snack so I won't be starving, but want to try and grab something on the way down. It could also be convenience store food.

natalie and peas.

Natalie - It will get better. I am in week 2 and the energy will hit you. It just takes some time for your body to adjust to the fact that it has to work harder for its fuel.

heavinbride - Keep it up. On Monday, my first day of week 2 Phase 1, I finally noticed that my pants were fitting better. It happened REALLY suddenly. It was like all of a sudden *POOF* my pants were really loose in the waist. I have a pair of jeans that were really tight in the waist that I need to try on tonight to check my progress.

well all, back to work, BBL

Good morning everyone! I made it through the first week on SB and I am feeling great! I lost 2 pounds this week. I started with Phase 2 as I was afraid I would fail on phase 1! It has been wonderful!

Goodmorning ladies! I hope you are all doing well!
I am feeling much more back to myself and human now as the germies are leaving this house!

Well it is day 6 for me and I am feeling pretty good. No cravings and I am getting used to eating like this. Last night for dinner I wanted to try some black beans so we had some and I thought for sure it would throw me off this morning (because when I did Atkins and I hit the 'legume rung' I could never lose with eating black beans, I would gain! Why is that? I know this is not Atkins but what's different now?) Well I actually lost another pound since yesterday. I also had 1/2 a yogurt for a snack yesterday too which was the first time of eating that as well. So yeah I am a pretty happy girl right now and think I will get back to exercising today with some weight lifting from the Buff Brides book.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day thus far- welcome to all of the new folk!

Hi everyone. My internet connection has been mostly down so I haven't been around. It's still acting up and I'm really to smash the cable modem. Today my dd has playgroup at the park so we'll be leaving soon for that. Tonight I'm going to dinner with a friend. We decided to try a new place each week so I picked Bahama Breeze for tonight. I heard it's really good.
I've been on the treadmill everyday accept yesterday (my day off) but I ended up walking dd to the park (1.5 miles). My clothes are fitting a little looser so hopefully the scale will be kind to me tomorrow. I'll try to get back on tonight to do personals. Hopefully the internet will be up.

Marva - thanks for keeping us going every day. How's it going, girly?

Rola - That'll be an accomplishment! Till the 1st?!?

Hi Compassionate,
to our threads.

Ami - let us know when you officially start, and until then, keep posting! We have some great support here and the ladies are so helpful, all you have to do is ask.

Hey Traci - sounds like you did good at Ruby's. I eat out a lot. I'm in maintenance (P3) and sometimes I make better choices than others, but the salad bar is always a good one. Good job staying off the scale! Feels good doesn't it?

Heavinbride. You'll lose water first on *any* change in diet. I didn't start in P1, but I'm sure those who did will have lots of advice. Just keep sticking to it and keep posting!

Hey Natalie. Your menu looks good to me. Try adding a small snack about an hour before your workout, this will give your body something to burn while you exercise. Also, add some protein to your lunch, your body needs it. Good luck, and keep posting.

Beth - you may have left already, but nuts and string cheese are always good packers. Also, if you have time and you're leaving the house, try slicing some celery, carrots, cukes, and peppers and bringing them in a bag to snack on along the way. Good luck at the interview.

Hi Kathy, Tink, and Watermelon
- you guys are doing great!

Denise - good to hear from you. How's the scale thing going? I got on on Monday at my sisters, so I don't really know how accurate it was (which means it doesn't count, right?!? ) lol. I'm determined to make it a week after tomorrow. Sorry you're having trouble with the internet. How's little Paige these days?

I'm glad to be home, and feeling pretty South Beach Zen right now. I did, however get out of the habit of drinking my water lately and need to remember to do it until it becomes second nature again. Someday, I'll start exercising again...

Hi everyone!

I unfortunately, don't have time right now for personals and I wish I did because you ladies are doing an awesome job! Things are going well with me and I had 2 more people today tell me that I am getting too skinny and I look great right here and shouldn't lose any more weight. I am not complaining, I am just wondering if I can't truly "see" myself the way other people do so I'm taking some pics of myself this weekend and I'll be posting them soon so that maybe I can get some perspective on this thing. I'm sure I'm not wasting away like people are saying - how can I be at 175 pounds! But I do want to take a step back and see myself in a bit more of an objective light.

Okay, I gotta run now. I was a bad bad girlie and weighed myself this morning but I liked what the scale said to me so today she's my friend.

Love and hugs to you all!

Question for you all - if I don't "feel" thinner after these first 6 days on SB, does that mean that the scale probably hasn't moved? I just don't feel any different, aside from not feeling so bogged down like I did on Atkins. I just really need that number on the scale to be below 154.5 on Friday to make me feel like this switch worked for me. I haven't stepped on it since Monday and it was 154.5 then. I've done everything right so far - at least I think I have.

The only concern I have is I started thinking about my lunch for the last 2 days. There is a convenience store/market up the street from where I work that has a great salad bar that I've gotten the last 2 days. I get lots of romaine lettuce, lots of mushrooms, a little scoop of ham and cheese and some grilled chicken to top it off. All of that seems fine to me, but I started thinking about the salad dressing...it doesn't taste sweet or anything, it's just ranch. But is there a risk that the dressing might have more than 3 grams of sugar you think? I just don't want to think that I've blown it when I thought I was doing so great...I'm gonna stay away from the place for at least 2 more weeks so that I know what I'm eating. I'll fix my stuff at home and bring to work. I'm just nervous now...understand???

Traci-
Your lunch made me hungry! I would bring my own dressing and keep up with the salads cause they sound great! I don't know if you eat there or bring it back but either way you could bring a dressing from home in a little plastic container or keep a bottle at work if possible. As of today I have lost 8 pounds since starting and don't feel like a thing as far as "skinnier" goes or pants fitting different or anything, so I am thinking that maybe we aren't supposed to yet? (I hope!) Hang in there I have a feeling on Friday it's going to show nothing but wonderful news!

Haven't been very good at checking in lately. Pretty hit or miss. It's been a rough week emotionally. I just have these dark times sometimes. Anyway, I"m getting my bloodwork done tomorrow. I'll probably have to face the fact that I need to go back on thyroid meds. (sigh) I've enjoyed being med free, but I"m working to hard for too little loss and fighting too much depression, sleepiness, sleeplessness and sickness. Sorry to be such a bummer. Had junk on Sunday night because it was our anniversary. I need to stop making excuses.

Compasion, I'm loving your name. Hope your day was good!

Hi and Ami, we're glad you're joining in with us! It will be fun, you're at goal, that's great--I haven't accomplished it yet, but it sure seems like a great maintenace plan because I surely do like P1 and P2.

Hi Tracy, sounds like you did great at Ruby Tuesdays! I haven't eaten there and don't eat out often. When I do it's usually fish, a buffet or mexican food. I have a chicken dinner I like there. Hope you get your whoosh! On your question, the dressing probably isn't too bad, and I do understand how you feel, just be cautious with it, like some in a little bowl, dip your fork in it before getting a bite of the salad. You'll be surprised how much less of the dressing you'll eat! Good luck!

heavinbride, way to go! Since you feel like you've lost water, I'm sure you're feeling better! You're really a nice size, that's so neat that you are making sure you stay there, congrats!

Hope your internet is up Denise, laugh on smashing the modem, hope your dinner is good and yah on the clothes fitting looser!

Natalie, your menu looks good, Ally's suggestions are really great! Yah on the water, it will help with the exhaustion as well as some protein, or do you like yogurt? That or a serving of almonds would be good before your workout.

Hi Rola, good luck with the scale and hope you have a good day! I think the Menu thread is awesome too!

Beth, looks like I got in too late for snack ideas, hope all went well for you! Share with us how you handled it! I'm always needing new ideas. Not too far down in the index there's a thread on snacks...I need to bump it up.

Kathy, you are doing awesome! Yah on sticking with the plan!

Hi Tink ...on losing the 2 lbs! I'm glad you're making your strides and knowing how to work your food for you. That's what it's all about, you go girlfriend!

Glad you're feeling better Jessica. I'm so glad you're enjoying the new foods. It seems that it's really difficult sometimes for those who've been on Atkins to get out of that way of thinking.

Hugs Ally, things are good for me, hanging in good with the challenge, loving it all......so glad you're back!

Morning and yah Lisa on looking skinny! They couldn't have given you a better compliment....glad the scale was friendly!

((((((((hugs Barb)))))))), hope things chill soon for you, thyroid problems are bummers, messes the whole system up. Hope you had a fun anniversary.

Hi to Sharon!

Hi to all I've missed and all I miss.....

Love you guys,

Marva
