TUESDAY CHECK IN - June 7th

Good evening-morning again beach babes,

Seems like everyone is geared up for a good week,

Welcome to our new members and to those posting and to our faithful members. Come on in and post a check in.

I was thinking about veggies today and how some don't like salads or the vegetables don't look good when dining out. There could be a way around that if you like any kind of veggies. There is an excellent eating program (OA) that allows it's members to eat what they call a "finger salad" which is 3 small veggies instead of a salad/or veggie and I think that would work for us if one wanted to do it......when eating out, if you don't like the vegetable selection, you can choose 4 finger veggies from a salad bar and consider that a vegetable serving ........any thoughts on this beachers?

I've emailed an OA friend for further details on this, anyway, it's an idea.

My friend and neighbor brought me two big bags of yellow squash and those burpless/seedless cucumbers this afternoon in from our farmer friend, what fun! Any idea on what to do with lots of cucumbers other than just raw veggies? Guess one could do pickles, any easy recipes?

See you guys in the morning.

I love the veggie idea, but I usually love veggies.

Have a great Tuesday

Marva - My answer is biased on that veggie Q cuz I love em But, I think that is a great idea!

Today is day 2 for me. So I weighed myself last night, and low and behold...I am back where I started in 12/03 when I first started Atkins. I am at 237. In the past 2 years I have managed to gain that 50 lbs back that I lost. It was a sad evening. But it makes me more motivated to get rid of it again, u know?

Have a good day all... will check in later on lunch break!

Good morning all,

Great post last night Penny, on not eating off-plan all weekend. Hope you get another loss soon!

It will happen anadday, keep posting.

Lucky you on the rain Pom, I have the lawn sprinkler going right now. Wow, you are on a downward spiral, keep it up....the puppy is darling......

I hear you Jenny, same here, let's not do this again. on the veggies.

Things aren't beginning on a good stroke for me today, dh and dgs aren't being good boys today Things are all hyper....talk non stop...... Jeez, donuts, eggs, bacon, biscuits already with talks of Jack in the box and pizza already for lunch between the two of them and me taking him swimming this afternoon while I exercise. Sometimes it isn't easy being easy, was it a full moon or what? Keep me in your thoughts please...I just had coffee and an egg, appetite is gone which can be a good thing.

Have a good one and hi to all who follow!

Marva you have a great neighbor! I love yellow squash. congrats on surviving the doughnuts and biscuits this morning

hi Penny

Pom that's amazing! congrats

hi anadday

Jenny I've been there, though I never lost that much. But regaining anything you've worked so hard to lose sucks. You did it before and you can do it again.

Marva - Thanks for the veggie idea. You're doing great, girly. DH and DGS have it made with such a wonderful lady in their life! I'll be thinking of you, and know that you can make it through. As for the cukes, I love a good cucumber salad - all it takes is some vinegar, water, onion and a touch of splenda. The thinner you slice it, the less time you have to let it soak. I usually make it a few hours before dinner and throw it back in the fridge. Also, try red wine vinegar, dill weed, and sour cream. There is an Asian cuke salad recipe at atkins.com that calls for sesame oil and sesame seeds I think that is good. GL and I wish I had super fresh cucumbers.

Hi Penny and Pom
(love your avi, btw)

Anadday - feel free to join us in our challenge. I'm trying to stay off the scale for a week. Hard, but worth it.

Jenny - I'm sorry you had a sad night, but today is a new day, and you have some great motivation now! Keep up the good work.

Hey Shelf. Rola
.

Just trying to make a menu, but I can't decide what to have for lunch, and I think we're going fishing, so either we have to take dinner with us or eat late. Decisions, decisions! I did ok yesterday besides the pudding, and am starting to get excited about my trip on Friday, which I have mixed feelings about...I really don't want to go, but it'll be good experience. I'm going to be totally out of my element and am afraid I will feel like a fool. (It's a genetics conference full of smart undergrad and graduate biologists, etc and I don't know ***** (or even really care much) about natural sciences.) Other than that, just busy doing some final work on the program we wrote and designing a poster for the whole deal. They do have a supercomputer there and a old friend of the family works at the center, so I'm looking forward to that! Speaking of which, I better get busy on some work that needs to be done.

hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome
so on the challange do you just pick the numbers that you want to try and
stick to for the week?
i dont think i can commit to the scale one yet i figure it is better for me to be obsessed over the scale right now instead of all of the bread i love so dearly
i tried to stay off of the scale for the 1st week of phase one but i only made it 4 days
I am glad i found this board..... thanks for the support

Hi Kathy.

Anadday - yes, just pick your numbers, or make up your own goals. This challenge lasts until 4th of July, and then someone will probably start a new and different one. You can participate any way you want, it's just an inspirational and fun way to stay on track. 4 days is awesome! I have a hard time making it that long. GL and hope to see you post on the challenge thread.
