Hi everyone! A new day!

I am starting Phase 1 of South Beach today Doing LC worked for me in the past with Atkins.. At one point, I lost 50lbs! Went from 237 to 187...Then some things happened, and I lost control and gained most of it back. I have tried going back to Atkins, but I need more variety - more balance. I thought I would give South Beach a try and get my body back in gear.

For those who don't know me, outside of the WOE I have had issues with exercise in the past due to a foot injury that had me out of exercise for 10 months. My foot is healed now, and I will be starting Yoga soon to help me with flexibility, balance and strength before jumping into something pretty intense.

So now, I am ready and I am sick of looking at myself in pictures (even though some say they add weight) and WANT to change.

I am not sure where to look here, what challenges are going on etc - but I would like to be a part of one....with those who are doing SB too.... it will keep my thinking in order and drive me while I start this new plan.

I look forward to joing you all!

Hi Jenny!

We are happy to have you join us! I love doing South Beach. I just celebrated my 1-1/2 year anniversary a few days ago and I couldn't be happier. I'm still about 15 pounds from my goal weight but I am enjoying just hanging around the weight I am currently. I know the final pounds will come off sooner or later.

Enjoy Phase 1. It can take a bit getting used to for the first few days so post anytime you need a boost of motiviation or support. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Lisa

Thanks! I am looking forward to phase 1 actually, it isn't as intense as Atkins 72 induction was, so to me, this will be not as restrictive, ya know?

I know exactly what you mean. You can do it! The food is great and my favorite part is not having to count anything! I ate all I wanted until satisfied in Phase 1 and did so in Phase 2 for the longest time too. Now I have to watch calories and portion sizes and the weight still doesn't want to move. Sigh. But anyway, this is a great program and I know you'll love it!

it was great It was the only rainfree night we've had in weeks. We didn't stay all night, we ended leaving about 3. Next year I'll get DH to take the day off so he won't be so tired.

There was a lot of participation. I'm still waiting to hear the final figures of what was raised.

Jenny - you are so sweet, thanks for the encouragement! I am going to keep the faith and believe the scale will start moving again sooner or later. I'm certainly not going back to the way I used to eat!

10 months? That's a really long time.

I twisted my ankle and was unable to exercise for a few weeks-- and walking was bad the first few days. I can't imagine 10 months.

Welcome Jenny.
