DD question

Just wondering if many of you fast on your dd until dinner? I did that yesterday (my first dd) and it worked out well. I had to fast until late afternoon anyway for some blood work so I just kept going until dinner. I really enjoyed and appreciated that dinner! I had lots of liquids up till dinner including a few cups of chicken broth that was very satisfying.

I'll play around with how I spend my calories on dd but I was just curious if fasting all day with one really good meal seemed to work well for many of you?

Many JUDDD BUDDDs do exactly that. I prefer to spread my calories out, but there are lots of success stories on this board who delay eating until dinner every DD. Some, like Carly, use that strategy for both UDs and DDs.

Usually I have a huge mug off coffee with 1T-2T of HWC (50-100 calories) either mid-morning or around lunch time. Then I try and save the rest for dinner. That works best for me. But there have been DDs where I really feel like I need something on my stomach, and then I just try and listen to my body.

I'm not real good at this, but lately I've been doing better at it. When I have that uncomfortable stomach hunger feeling early on a DD I just have a bite of something. The other day I had one spoonful of cottage cheese. One other day I had one bite of steak. In the past I was either all or nothing. I couldn't have stopped at one bite. But it satisfied my need for taste (sometimes I get that bad taste in my mouth) and also calmed my stomach just enough.

I fast until a bedtime snack on DD around 9pm. In maintenance some DDs I have coffee w/ creamer during the day. During WLM I generally just had black tea or green tea till bedtime snack. Most UDs I have a cup of coffee in the morning w/ creamer, a latte around 1pm and then a nice size dinner. Every now and then on UD I eat something light during the day, but that is definitely the exception.

On DD's normally I wait until dinner time to have my meal.
On UD's I eat breakfast and then nothing until dinner. That way I have the continuity of not eating at work, and it reinforces that hunger isn't an emergency.

I can't do it...it gives me BAD insomnia!
I have to eat 20-25g protein in the morning, ASAP!

But it's a great strategy, if it works for you!

Put me in the camp of fast till dinner minus coffee and water. I tried a couple weeks of blueberries and carrots for lunch on DD, but overall I'm just happier fasting. It's more a simplicity thing for me.

I usually wait as long as possible to eat. Except for tea or coffee in the morning.
I do sort of a fast 5 eating window most days, except it's not always 5 hours. I usually get home about 4, that's when my window opens. Sometimes I'm done by 6, sometimes it's as late as 9. At least that's my school schedule. Now summer....that's a different story.

I have been doing something different lately. About 10-11, whenever I start to feel hungry, I take a bite or two of an 80 calorie jerky stick. I do that every hour until I eat lunch (usually lite soup) about 2-3. Then I have a small snack on my way home from work and then whatever I planned for DD dinner.

I've tried waiting for dinner so I could have a good-sized meal, but by the time it comes around I am way too hungry and make poor decisions.

Gina,
Perhaps drinking some tea or something instead of the jerky stick every time you feel hungry? I might be able to save some calories for your dinner.
Also, I might help to plan out your dinner and have it ready and waiting? I know that can be helpful to fully plan out the DD initially, until the SIRTs kick in and your appetite reduces a bit.

I've continued to have just one meal a day on DD and its working very well for me. Usually I wait until dinner but on my last DD I ate at lunch time and I was surprised how easy that day was. May try that again today.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have found that having the jerky (probably because of the protein) over the course of the day leaves me much more satisfied than having the additional 80 calories at dinner. In fact, I think it has saved many a DD because if I start eating while I am TOO hungry, I tend to overeat.

I've tried JUDDD a lot of ways. This is working right now, who knows what will happen in the future. Probably something completely different.

There are many ways to do JUDDD the best way is the way that works best for YOU!

I can't make it all day long, it causes me major issues. I tend to eat little amounts throughout the day!

Back in the old days, I was a terrible night eater which I'm sure is one reason I got so fat. Thank heavens I haven't had that problem for years now. I usually eat my least meal by 5 p.m. It is my lightest meal of the day usually. I sleep a lot better without much in my stomach. I like most of my food, especially on DDs, in the morning, then a little when I feel really hungry later in the day.
I've tried holding off eating, but if I don't eat in the morning I'm hungry and think about food all day until I finally eat.

Gina, I used your idea with some beef jerky. I had a few small pieces to chew and it really helped my hunger.

I with both of the above that how we implement JUDDD and what we eat in line with its schedule will vary from one stage to another as we tweak our food to meet health conditions, different activity levels or major events such as pregnancy, menopause.

I'm probably on my 5th or 6th major variations on what I eat within JUDDD. I'll probably need to change it again when I have the surgery. *Life* and its fascinating vagaries.
