Kind of Silly/Gross/embarasing Question : )

Sooo just wondering if anyone has ever had problems with low carbing and yah know...regularity in the powder room lol

Ive been doing low carb for 2 weeks...I always do it for 2 weeks and then freak out and quit because its like...where is my daily powder room break time (yah know what im saying?)

So anywho feedback/ideas would be nice. Is this normal? Will low carb lifestyle always cause problems with movements of the tummy..?

this is getting embarrassing lol!

Coconut oil. Take a tablespoon of coconut oil. It might upset your stomach if you're not used to it, so take it in one teaspoon increments throughout the day. And drink more water. Things will loosen up....

Remember, you're completely changing what your body is used to eating, so sometimes it takes a while to catch up. Stick with your LC way of eating. If you still experiences issues after your body is adjusted, you might try a magnesium supplement. I use a supplement powder called "Natural Calm" and it helps me tremendously with regularity, as well as better sleep and a calmer mood. Good luck!

i would be lucky to go once a week after a few months on my WOE. Started 2 teaspoons of NV Natural Calm (Magnesium Citrate) twice a day in a cup of boiling water and BIG BADA BOOM, have not been bound up since.

Coffee can move things along too. But that might be a more temporary solution.

In the beginning my digestive system was a bit chaotic but once I became adapted it was the opposite. In fact one of the benefits I find is less umm waste, because of the food we are eating. However, it will take your body awhile to adjust. I have found that it took me quite awhile to totally adapt to this diet. For example, I used to find that protein and fat without carbs didn't sit as well in my stomach. To feel totally comfortable and regulated took time.

Lately I've been wondering about this (as I have the same issue as others here with regularity). Sometimes I wonder if what I think of as "constipation" is actually just a case of I don't have much "waste" left over after my digestive system is done with my LCHF meal(s). I go to the bathroom and only get, well, itty-bitty stuff passing through. Sometimes after I do that I actually feel like I'm "done" - but somehow it doesn't really "seem" right anyway. In other words, maybe I think I'm constipated, but I'm really not!

I go either way. For days one way then days nothing, I even get a few regular days. It is about your system.
All depends on what your putting into it and if your listening to it whenit tells you something.

It hasn't changed for me, but before I was eating a fair amount of fat and fiber, and I still get fiber. It's just now more often from veggies and flax instead of whole grains and beans.

I will tell you that I had sooo much gas before, and now it's almost non-existent. I think starches ferment more in there.

I think a good (30 billion Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium bacteria strains) probiotic is what is most helpful in the long run. In the short term, a good dose of coconut oil or magnesium citrate.

Remember that on a good low carb woe, there is less 'waste' and this alone can account for less frequent bowel movements. The other important thing is that the body needs time to adjust gut flora and digestive juices to accommodate for a different diet. Some people develop acid reflux in the initial stages because the digestive enzymes are low due to carb consumption. It can take days or even a couple of weeks to adjust.

For any of the posters who have concerns with being too "loose" - just something to consider. When I started LC in the 90's I thought I was doomed to being extraordinarily "loose" until I learned that it was 100% that I was now eating eggs instead of cereal. When I finally figured out it was the eggs (I know now I am intolerant), and not meat in general, then everything has gone perfect in the bathroom. Just something to consider!

BPCS makes me poop everyday, even. To lowcarbing I've always had constipation.....no more!!!! I have 2 cups, 12 ounces total, with 1 tbsp butter and 2 tbsp coconut oil....I add cream also..keeps me full at least 4-6 hours too

I think I've discovered an interesting new "laxative" - peanut butter!

The all-natural, have-to-stir-it kind, of course (low-ish carbs (6g per serving), no added sugars, etc).

Sometimes when I'm hungry late at night I grab a jar of Adams All-Natural Peanut Butter and have maybe 5-7 spoonfuls of it. Fills up the tummy nicely. Then about an hour later, it all comes out in a ... nice sized, bulky one. Seems to push out everything located in the queue before it as well!

Give it a try, if you're a peanut butter fan.

Also, google "health benefits of peanut butter." It's really good for you, too! One thing I didn't know until just now is, it's got lots of fiber. Maybe that's why it passes through me so quickly! :P

I was also just reading that almond butter is a better substitute for peanut butter. I'll have to try it some time and see if it has the same effect.

I feel you, it is a big problem for me. One T of coconut oil in my coffee each morning fixed that. Luckily I like the taste and don't mind it in my coffee.

Thanks! Meant to say I had constipation issues before LC woe. If you decide to try bullet proof coffee, make sure you use the blender, I have all my gfs doing it even, not lowcarbing...

You should see keller, tons of new schools, we live north west side and just my neighborhood has 4 new elem schools, huge high school , middle and intermediate school...seriously just in my subdivision...there are 4000 houses in it tho lol!
