Never Again

The friend who was staying with me left today and last night we had a big dinner to celebrate. I made a fantastic Balinese prawn curry for the adults and the kids had a chicken version. Since it was a celebration, I decided to have a dessert.

I bought half a melon for the non-lowcarbers and balled it nicely. I then made a strawberry-raspberry low-carb 'gelati'. It came out beautifully even without sweeteners and everyone was appreciative.

In the spirit of the occasion, I decided to have a small scoop. I really wish I hadn't.

I've heard of people having severe gastro upset if they raise their carbs and the gelati was more fruit than I've ever had on this diet. I wasn't outside of my carb limit but it was all in once serving and I know I have problems with fruit. So silly of me!

Yep! Even something that's well within my daily carb limit, but the food is high glycemic/fast acting, I get an almost instant stomachache that lasts for a few hours. I can always tell when someone has mistakenly given me something with sugar or flour. The good thing is that it happens very rarely, but ouch when it does!

LOL! Yeah, experience does teach lessons not to be forgot!

It was fairly high GI and I knew I'd have problems but I hadn't thought it would be as bad as it was. I guess it's a good thing it went almost stright through!

Lesson learned. Not the best way to go about it, but... My DD#3 has that problem with gluten and annatto. Doesn't take long to know. Sounds like a great evening otherwise!

Yeah, and the best part is the house is mine again. No more boiled eggs for breakfast or sneaking around for a BPC.
