Does your "keto breathe" decrease with adaptation?

Does your "keto breathe" decrease with keto adaptation?

I'm wondering because it has felt quite normal this whole month and I'm wondering if it's because I'm doing something wrong or if it's because the smell can decrease despite you still being in ketosis? I've read about you having less of it in your urine after adapting so I'm wondering if the same might apply to your mouth and perhaps sweat as well.

Again I don't have my meter yet so I have nothing to confirm whether I'm in ketosis or not. My plan is still as strict though, under 20 a day, and I can't think of anything which might be kicking me out. I'm still losing weight.

That is not my experience, unfortunately.

Tongue scraping helps a lot though.

Yeah I know I have my scraper I just noticed I haven't needed it as much recently.

Can't wait to get my meter from Canada, hopefully it's near the Atlantic by now

Was thinking about this over the weekend too. I think I may have knocked myself out of ketosis as I had a rough couple of days-drinking wine and going over my carb limit at dinner- because I don't really have the breath right now. But to your point I have heard that the levels can decrease as you become more adapted.

I can't say if this is true or not but I've read it has to do with finding the right balance of fat nutritionally. supposedly we all have a "fat" sweet spot. Too much fat & you end up with keto-breath, which is different than the traditional "bad" breath.

Drinking lots of water helps, too.

This has been my experience. A fatty rib eye slathered with butter for dinner and a couple cups of BPC the next morning will rev up my "keto breath" for the rest of the day.

I have always thought it subsides, but then again I don't smell my own breath that often.

I only get keto breath when I'm not getting a good amount of vegetable matter. Nuts and veggies do wonders for controlling it, and meat and cheese are the worst for it. You can still be well in the ketogenic range and not have gross breath

A little sweet/acetone smell is one thing, but rank mouth odor is entirely manageable for me.

Alas, my experience with keto breath was that it didn't go away untill I exceeded my goal weight and started to reintroduce some carbs into my diet. I'm still very lc...no bread, pasta dough or grains of any kind, but my veggie and especially my nut and fruit intake has increased and so am no longer in ketosis.
Good news for me, is that while i did gain a few pounds back, I've been maintaining for months and can eat my blueberries and almond butter to my hearts content.

From what I understand, 'keto breath'is a slightly sweet smell. Anything else is likely a result of digestion and often it is in flux in the first few months as a result of big changes in macro nutrients. Once those things have re-adjusted, I would think that any breath issues should resolve.

how can I tell if I have keto breath without asking someone else to sample it. When I put my hand in front of my face I dont notice anything. Does this mean it's clear? I am in deep ketosis.

Lick the back of your hand, let it dry for a few seconds, and then smell it.

You might want to sniff the back of your hand before you lick it to confirm that it's odorless.
