Please come JOIN us! I am in need of Low Carb Friends and Accountability. Summer will be here and gone before we know it---so lets make the most of it!

Yay Wickedstitch, so glad you're back for round 2!! Let's rock this new challenge!

Hi Vicki, welcome to our challenge!!! We developed a great group in the first round, hopefully all of our amazing peeps will be joining us in round 2, you'll be a great addition!

So girls, are we keeping Mondays as our weigh in day or do we want to make Friday's our weigh in since we're officially starting up again on Friday??

I can't seem to break my habit of weighing daily, so I'm good either way.

Hi guys, has anybody tried Glucomannan?
I started adding it with oat fiber to some of my concoctions (I love concocted food)
It has been giving me fantastic appetite control.
I am going 10hrs or more without even feeling like eating.
Its only been 3days.
fingers crossed.

Anybody tried it?
how have you found it?

Rob, I haven't tried that, but you certainly have my interest!!! Is it a powder substance? How do you consume it?

I wonder the same thing! I have two jobs and there is candy everywhere...drives a person crazy! All that matters now is that you're back on track--good for you

Hi guys here's a dumpling recipe made with gluccy and oat fiber
Dumplings | Buttoni's Low Carb Recipes
I made a variation of it and boy I was in heaven...I can safely state if I knew about this stuff before, I would never have been fat.
Its practically calorie free, can be baked and used in so many ways.
Most importantly it kills appetite dead. You have to remember to eat, no kidding.
I love the stuff.

The only problem is that the site I buy from who can ship to the UK without charging an arm and a leg are always out of stock. I had to wait for almost 3mths to get the one I just did. and it went out of stock in nano seconds.
I am getting a ton of the stuff, even if I have to travel to the states to fetch it myself.

Heres another recipe for pasta I found here on this site from http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ea...anuary-10.html thread post #292
Quote:
Pasta Dough for Pasta Press
The recipe I used was Buttoni's dumpling recipe with the optional coconut flour for firmess added.

Serves 8

1 lg egg
1 Tbsp. oil - added by Carolyn
6 T glucomannan powder
6 T oat fiber
1 T baking powder
1/2 t kosher salt
2 teaspoons coconut flour
1 1/2 cups water (they're now talking about using 1 3/4 cups water)

Then I followed Carolyn's instructions:
"The recipe I used is the original but with 1 Tbs. olive oil added.. (from Carolyn)

Mix the egg with the oil in a medium bowl until smooth. Mix all the dry ingredients with a fork together in a cereal bowl. I just added it slowly the egg/oil mixture until it was
mostly incorporated. Then I poured the 1 1/2 cups of water in the bowl and whisked it all together until smooth. I covered the bowl with a towel and let it sit for the 8 minutes.

I removed a bit at a time and patted it and rolled it and then cut it with my hand crank pasta machine. Note: I always add a tiny bit of flour to the cutters/rollers so the dough doesn't stick. Worked great.

The dough is a bit rubbery, but does roll out and cut nicely and the noodles are soft after boiling them."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
They are also now talking about letting it sit for an hour or two before refrigerating. And about leaving out the baking powder entirely for a firmer noodle. I'm going to try that next time.
I boiled up another little batch left over from yesterday and I boiled them only 2 minutes. They held up beautifully.
DH loved them.
Sandy that is VERY encouraging to have lasagna noodles that are indistinguishable from high carb.
AMAZING.
Sorry, I have no recipes for focaccia bread.
Well guys you've always known I'm a foodie hehehe.
OMG, Rob that chicken and dumplings looks DIVINE.......this stuff is really safe for our WOE??? It doesn't cause you to gain weight????
It has zero calories, for the dumplings practically, so the cals will only come from what is in the chicken broth part of the cooking.
babes go check out the link to the recipes on this site I posted in the earlier post. I am thrilled to bits about this.
In the days I have been eating this stuff...I have not once felt hungry. I have to remind myself to eat.
which reminds me, I need to get me some good multivitamins because I want to focus on riding this stuff and eating small until I get to goal.
I will post some articles from a few I have come across too.
Tammy I am so excited as you would have guessed by now.
heres the link to oat fiber nutritional profile
Glucomannan has zero calories too
It thickens exactly if not better than corn starch/potato starch etc
I have made ultra low cal soup thickened with Glucomannan, and its truly awesome.
folks this thing is a miracle for me.
All my best efforts always died at the altar of hunger pangs.
If this thing turns out long term to be the answer to my weight control dreams, I will consider myself the happiest woman alive.
I Forgot we have a poll going on.
Maria - it meets all the criteria for comfort food.( who would've thought that of lower calorie, carb free, soupy fare) The one I made was delish. I have to weigh every single thing I cook with, again, because when anything is great tasting, or satisfying, it messes with my head and I go " it can't be low Carb, it can't be lower calories - it tastes too good") then I start obsessing, which makes my all or nothing brain go - oh well you might as well eat a shed load of cookies its blown already.( talk about messed up thinking)
