Three years on JUDDD update

I lost 41 pounds on JUDDD and had been happily maintaining until I gained 10 pounds over the holidays. I have been trying to lose those ten pounds for the past two and a half months to no avail. I tried nutritional ketosis along with JUDDD and lost 5 pounds which came back as soon as I had a potato and the record keeping was too much. I even gained a couple more pounds trying to lose the ten holiday pounds.

Doing without every other day just to maintain was getting really old and I was reaching the point of just throwing in the towel. I did remember that I never lost weight on Atkins BUT I could maintain effortlessly. So why am I suffering every other day and only maintaining if I could go over to Atkins and eat every day and maintain?

SO I am taking a JUDDD break and following Atkins 72. I have even lost 2 pounds and may eventually get back to my goal weight. BUT I do not think about food and only eat when I feel hunger. Now I did have to give up cookies and won't be able to eat my beloved Blue Bell ice cream but i have an ice cream maker and know how to make delicious ice cream so I will survive.

I have even started "craving" salad greens such as spinach which I have growing in my little garden. I never ate salads on JUDDD as the salad dressing had too many calories and I do not like low fat dressings.

I have nothing negative to say about JUDDD as it got me to my goal weight and helped me stay there for a long time. BUT I think I started experiencing diet fatigue and just need to relax for a bit. I can still wear my size 8 clothes and if I never lose another pound but maintain at 148 I will be content. Maybe 148 is my perfect weight and I just want it to be 139.

I was dealing with a lot of fatigue and general weakness also. That is gone and I have loads of energy and I seem stronger. My diet is healthier as I am mostly eating meat from our freezer, fresh salad greens, chard and kale as veggies. And I don't have to check the calendar to see if I can have beakfast or not. Most days I skip breakfast and sometimes I wait until lunch to eat and other days I get hungry around 10:30 so I eat then. Some days I have very little hunger and other days I seem to eat all day. But the scale stays on 148 so all is well.

Thought I would update rather than just vanish never to be heard from again.

So happy to hear from you!!

Sorry things are not the way you would like, your story is some-what like mine. I am a bit older then you are so maybe we are having "senior issues" when it comes to our weight. I also try to lose, but it is not easy for me now, years back it was ever so easy I have never done Atkins, but may give it a try as you seem to be doing well on it!

Please post here again any-time! Would love to hear how things are going?

Take Care!

Maybe my problem is I have no idea how long I have been following JUDDD. TWO YEARS NOT THREE.must have been two very long years in my mind.

Thank you Leonak.

Very happy for you Adi! It sounds like you're taking a well-earned break and enjoying the benefits of a low-carb WOE for a while.

I really like the idea of switching things up every once in a while, going from one WOE to another. Much better than the alternative of giving up and eating whatever whenever.

Adi,
It's wonderful to hear from you. You're one of my Juddd queens and I'm grateful to hear about your process no matter where it leads.
All the best with this stage. I hope you'll continue to let us know how it goes.

I just thought about you on Sunday when I was at the Mexican market and saw Cajeta for the very first time. Can you make that low carb?

I'm taking a break right now, too, and eating at maintenance TDEE for a while. Whatever it takes is my new motto.

Well done on your sucess on JUDDD! It sounds like a good idea to use Atkins if you don't feel deprived without carbs. I also stopped losing weight on Atkins but seemed to stay solid at one weight, rather than the ups and downs of JUDDD. I definitely find JUDDD better for weight loss.

IMO, taking breaks and trying new things is good. Especially good if you were feeling tired and drained.

Congratulations! Maybe you gained a few pounds. But, as you say, those may be pounds your body needs.....and at your height, size 8 is gonna look gooooooood!!!

Take care of yourself and keep us informed about how you are doing!

I'm glad to hear from you and that you are taking care of yourself. I just passed my 2 year JUDDDiversary. Luckily I haven't had any diet fatigue, but I do a lot of 5:2 in maintenance. Please keep us posted.

Please don't completely disappear Adi! You are missed around here.

I just completed a month long JUDDD break and basically did Atkins 72, due to diet fatigue, struggling to lose, and I was actually gaining (due to UUADs and failed DDs). It was just the break I needed, and freed my mind from all the counting. I hope this will be just what you need too.

It sounds like a solid plan. I certainly understand not wanting to try so hard just to maintain. Enjoy yourself and keep us updated often!

Thanks for the update Adi, glad to have heard from you. As you can see from the responses above, you're in good company with diet fatigue and trying a different route for the time being. I, too, am having to take a break from JUDDD.
Please don't be a stranger and pop by occasionally, even if its just to share photos of the 4-legged kids!

Don't be a stranger to us because you know you're leaving an Adi-sized space round the JUDDD hearthstone

[Edited out a huge comment that belongs better in a maintenance thread: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...l#post16869089 ]

Maintenance has to be something that you can live and that brings joy to your life. I wish you joy of Atkins 72, Adi, and I look out for announcements that you and your DH have started a cottage industry of low-carb goat ice-cream.

Hi, Adi. Thanks for the update. Hope you will pop in from time to time. I was always impressed with your consistancy and progress. Interesting that your body just wanted to hold on to the vaca weight. Wise to shake it up a bit.
