A friend of mine is a few years older has diabetes. She has been low carb for about 10 years, smokes, does not exercise and is very thin. However, she is starting to tell me that she thinks part of the reason for her blood sugar problems is due to low carb eating, fasting and not taken care of her body.

What do you think? I would think that Low carb is the key to managing diabetes.

Anyhow, it kind of freaked me out because she said it will catch up to be in the longrun?? Oh... good heavens. I am trying to be proactive and preventative.

Personallly, I think the smoking is what is causing her cortisol levels to be so high, but she wont say that.

Again, long term effects of low carb are good right??? lol

I have to remember that the person I want so desperately to become is already in me. That person has never gone away.

Got it. Good. Thanks ladies. I usually just listen to my intuition, but she keeps reiterating how she thinks low carb has made these issues.

Need to do my own thing!

It is no secret that long term low carb is definitely something you need to research and manage. I would consult your physician if you plan to continue after you reach your goal weight, just for the sole reason that you don't want to end up burning muscle tissue.

But I wouldn't compare your diet and health to hers, she has a serious disease and if she is not going to take care of herself properly that wont reflect on your health plan.

Thanks Gabla

I agree... I cant compare. Just because she is low carb and was advocating it for so long and now has issues, it made me start to question if I was totally off the wall. Anyhow, I highly doubt I could lose alot of muscle tissue I eat alot of protein and make sure I get it in.

I appreciate your feedback and this just helps me to confirm I am doing what is best for my body. luv this forum.
