Hellmann's or Miracle Whip?

As low carbers we tend to eat more of this kind of food. A great little article can be found unders getbetterwellness hellmann's or miracle whip if googled.

Short and to the point and very well put together.

I vote for homemade!

Before I learned to make my own(I will never go back to store bought) even the thought of Miracle Whip would make me gag. My DH grew up on it, but he also grew up on Freezer Queen so I try not to hold it against him.

Neither.

I don't think any marketed mayo product meets my requirements - at least I have not seen any in stores that contain only healthy ingredients.

I gave myself the option to make my own if I really want mayo but I must not want it very much because I do w/o instead.

I should have given more info. The article was about commercially made mayo and the truly crappy oils that are used to make them. So neither big brand mayo are any good.

If you learn to make it yourself, it takes less than 10 minutes and you get to pick good quality ingredients. My venture into making mayo was a anything but smooth and there were some major fails but I am really glad that I mastered the skill.

I am way too lazy to make my own. I usually buy Hellman's. My mom swore by this stuff, so I sort of feel guilty when I buy something else. I do like Duke's too.

I can't stand Miracle Whip.

I'm too lazy to make my own at this time too, but its on my list of things I need to do for my health. I've always loved Best Foods/Hellmans, it will be hard giving it up.

How long does homemade mayo last?

We don't eat Miracle Whip because it causes inflammation, my hubby has chronic inflammation so we eat Mayo.

I don't do Facebook but I figured Jimmy knows about the bad oils.

I do find it surprising that no company has come out with one that uses healthy oils.

I do agree that it is simple to make mayo. It is just finding what gives it the taste you want or getting used to something a bit different.

Miracle Whip is pretty carby due to added sugars; I stick with a simple Hellman's mayo.

Both Hellmann's and Miracle Whip use soy oil which is 90% GMO and if you were to read about the extraction process.... it is not pretty.

If mayo is only used occasionally, I would say it doesn't matter all that much but if you are a regular user, it might be advisable to make your own.

not worth making my own cause it would just be thrown out.

What about Kraft Mayonaise? They make one with Olive Oil. I never read the ingredients but that is the kind that I buy.

Same here. My husband doesn't like it and I have it rarely, so it doesn't pay to make my own. I've made it twice and thrown out the majority of it both times because it got too old.

It also contains unhealthy oil. It is like they added a tiny bit of healthy oil to the bad to con people.

I have not found a single mayo in any store that contains only healthy ingredients.

Mayo is probably the one area I'll have to compromise on because we just don't use it enough to make our own now that we don't do things like pasta or potato salad or sandwiches.
