Ketosis
Hi
Quick question for low carbers. I have been noticing that when my urine is not yellow, I feel like I am out of ketosis. I know clear is good for hydration. However, it appears that maybe I am not burning fat when this happens? I also noticed that I have alot more energy today with more veggies ( low carb) and wondering if others feel that they do best if not going to extreme of less than 20g? I also worked out 2 hours this am. Just wanted to hear thoughts. Scale- 116. |

Ketostix are only measuring one of the 3 kinds of ketones produced. When a person sees a positive on a ketostix, it means that they have been in ketosis at some point in the recent past but it does NOT mean that they have NOT been in ketosis or are currently IN ketosis.

I've never heard that the color of the urine has anything to do with ketosis, although I'm sure some people interpret it that way since the darker their urine, the more ketosis registers on their ketostix...but it's an inaccurate measure. The color of urine is more an indicator of hydration. Clear to very pale yellow is good hydration. Anything darker means you need more liquids. Unless you're taking medication that darkens the urine.
