Grab & Go food ideas

I am loving my new way of eating and have lost about 15 lbs the first 3 weeks. I am an avid cook and love to do it, but with 2 teenagers I am often rushing out the door and often don't have time to make myself lunch or dinner. It's easy to whip up a sandwich for the kids to eat on the run, but I am having problems coming up with something portable for me to eat.

Any suggestions? What do you do when you need to grab and go...

String cheese, beef jerky, one portion of nuts. These are my go to items for a quick snack to take on the road. For an actual lunch I do all kinds of things. Deli turkey w/mayo on lettuce leafs is really good. Leftovers from the day before is easy.

My current fave: thin-sliced deli corned beef rolled up in swiss cheese. It is like crack! Meaty, cheesy crack...

I always keep almonds in my purse. This at least givese a snack till I can get something else to eat.

I always keep nuts and a snack bar in my purse...I did see that there are new protein packs for sale at the store that contain meat,nuts and cheese...if all else fails I grab a slim jim cheese combo for a buck at wally world or the gas station...there is always a place to grab somthing low carb.

Mission makes low carb tortillas, they are the smaller size and are 6 net carbs each. I use that for sandwiches on the go. Or I'll just take a few slices of deli meat, lay a slice of cheese on top of that, squirt a line of mustard or mayo and then a pickle spear and roll it up

I like making faux buttermilk biscuits - and you can put a variety of ingredients, I made one that was like an Egg McMuffin/biscuit with egg and sausage that would be great for grab and go. They're pretty dense and not very crumbly. See link for recipe and picture.

If you don't mind salami breath... I like salami & cream cheese "tacos". Just take a slice of salami, spread cream cheese on it, and fold it in half. 3 or 4 of those will take the edge off for quite a while.

I also carry a little baggie of almonds in my purse. Just 10 almonds will hold my hunger at bay for several hours.

New Discovery for me yesterday...macadamia nuts. I bought some in case I try a fat fast in the near future and already measured them out into snack baggies, 30gms per baggie. Yesterday I got rushed out of the house and forgot to eat breakfast, two hours later I was starved so I ate a baggie. Didn't seem like much but it totally took the edge off and I didn't get lunch for another hour. So FYI macadamia nuts travel easy and are greatly satisfying

I usually 'fry' bacon by the pound (or 12 ounces depending on the brand) in the oven so that I can have it ready in the frig to grab and go. Pop them in a baggie...yum on the go!

Planning ahead with goodies in the frig to grab and go gives me better control
