2 Week JUDDD Experiment

I've tried this WOE a few times, but didn't give it at least 2 weeks before I gave up. I'm making a commitment to stick right to the rotations for 2 weeks and re-evaluate after that time. I started with an UD yesterday (came in a little bit less then the 1753 allowed) and today is a DD (353). I didn't do LC yesterday, but am going to try to stay under 50G for the 2 weeks.

2/11/14: 139.2 UD
2/12/14: 140.2 DD

I wasn't sure I could JUDDD either. I really hate being hungry, but I'm in my third week now, and it's working. Every morning I start my day by reading some posts here to remind myself that it works if I let it.

On DDs, when hunger hits, I tell myself it will pass in about 20 minutes (white knuckle time), that I can eat tomorrow, and that I must stick to this or fail. I see JUDDD as a gift.

Yesterday was an UD for me. I started and ended it by eating junk food, and nothing else. Today I woke up glad it was a DD. Surprised the heck out of me.

Welcome back! Are you using higher than 20% to calculate calories? Your numbers are about the same as mine and I'm 40 lbs heavier. If they seem too high, or you have trouble eating all of your UD allowance, you could go down to 20%.

I am using the 20% figure. I had no trouble eating to that number yesterday...but it was pretty "junky"!!!

Good for you! Seriously I'm close to 100% looking forward to and enjoying DDs now. I absolutely love the freedom, the calm, the energy, the sense of being in control and having this sense of accomplishment. And, I like looking forward to the UDs. It's like there is always this happy anticipation no matter what. Keep going! You are doing this!

I love your strategy of coming to the JUDDD boards first thing in the morning. That's a part of my mornings I always look forward to and it always pays off.

Part of my DD strategy is to keep my computer charged and open to the LCF site so I can pop in any time I need motivation, comfort or new ideas!

Must be including activity. They're higher than mine and I weigh more and am taller.

Yes, I put in "light exercise 1-3 days per week.

I am soooooooo hungry.....if I eat up to 500 instead of 353, do I subtract that amount off my UD?

No need. Allow yourself some wiggle room while getting used to rotations. 2 weeks induction allows for 500 calories. Some never go below that and lose just fine. Then do your normal UD tomorrow.

! I hope you will love JUDDD!
My only caution to you is that if after 2 weeks you are not pleased with the results I would drop down to 1530/307 (no activity) since many of us have better luck without the activity added in.

I exercise 5-7x per week and I stick with the no exercise option of 1550 and do 200-250 on DD. If I have an occasional UD of 1800 its no big deal, but I can't seem to make it work with UDs consistently at 1700 even though my fitbit has me burn up to 2000 a day depending on my workout.

Hi Joan welcome!!! I'm new too...I started around the 1st week of January at 168 and I am now down to 154)))...I was not on point that whole time for sure but, I have stuck with it and as Carrie said just keep telling yourself on your DD when it gets hard that you can eat tomorrow. I did not exercise up to this point but, I have started light walking 3 days a week. Good Luck!!

WOE: JUDDD/PHD, LC now that my BG is getting weird
Start Date: JUDDD 1/1/12 + LCHF 12/1/13 (controlling diabetes)
If you have been eating LC and abruptly switched to a higher carb level, then your body is still geared to eating LC: ingested fat-burning enzymes are high, ingested carb-burning enzymes are low, insulin release volume is low ... all of which adds up to after eating the higher carb meal, you have more blood glucose floating around in your system waiting to it's turn to be processed.

There is nothing wrong with that, your body is hard at work switching from a fat-based economy to a carb-based economy and, in a few days, the changeover will complete.

Nothing unhealthy or fundamentally bad happening here ... except during the changeover all that free-wheeling BG tends to trigger the claxton horns of "I am hungry!!! I may be starving!!!!".

It is kind of a reverse Induction Flu (and usually not as unpleasant as Induction Flu). I call it "Carb Flu".

It too shall pass

2/13/14: 141 (had bouillon yesterday...need to purchase low sodium!!!!)

Well I didn't "quite" do a DD...ending up with 607 calories instead of the 500 I was shooting for. but I guess I'll keep on plugging with an UDI will have a perfect DD next time!

607 calories IS a DD. You did great. If you want to go lower, that will come with time and practice. I bet if you look at your weight loss range of calories on the calculator, you're still in WLM with 607.

Thank You Dawn and Shirl! That makes me feel ALOT better! And you are so right...it takes time and practice...and I am an IMPATIENT person and kind of a perfectionist...i.e. if I don't do it PERFECTLY, then I have blown it and may as well give up.

I am worried about the salt, too, as I don't feel as tho I have lost any weight.
My clothes fit the same.

Oh, a lot of my cravings are salty & crunchy rather than sweet.

I love salty bullion, but I always pay for it the next day.

I use a broth that is just as satisfying and comes in powdered form! Herb-Ox sodium free. I also use two envelopes because I use a soup mug, but one would be enough for a regular sized mug.
