FINALLY! But I stole my own thunder.

Today's scale read 184. Seventy (70) pounds down. I tried to get there almost all of last year. i'd get down to 185 and bounce up again. I spent all of 2013 bouncing between 185 and 192. UGH! But I started to say I'd lost 70 pounds because I was THIS close most of the year.

So today, I'm finally there. I don't know how long it will stick. I'm sick with bronchitis, so that's affecting my appetite (I was very hungry until the lungs got involved, yesterday I ate very little). So I probably will bounce around some more. But I'm so happy to have finally gotten this number, even if it's not real progress.

I'm almost 3 years into low carbing, and it's become agonizingly slow. I've tried everything--raising fat, lowering fat, raising calories, lowering calories, raising carbs, dropping carbs, adding resistant starch, lowering protein, etc. I'm in full-on menopause, which isn't helping.

Except for this bronchitis (first time I've been really sick in nearly 2 years) I've been feeling great, more active and well then I had been in a good long time. So no temptations to carb up or stop watching my diet. Just frustration with the non-moving scale.

FANTASTIC! Congratulations.
I have an idea of what it's like to almost get to a goal, but not quitee, and bounce just over it for far too long.
Congratulations on finally getting UNDER that dumb number! Keep up your good work, and don't get discouraged.

I'm so happy for you. I hope you have continued success.

I have also got the crud, and I made Caolyn Ketchums roasted garlic chicken soup. It is so delicious and just the right thing for bronchitis or a cold. I also mince a few garlic cloves and eat it. Gross but hopefully effective.

Super! Now keep keeping at it. I hope to keep my mindset intact this time that this is not a temporary "fix" but how I really need to keep eating.
You're really done well keeping at it.

So far, knowing the bad effects of sugar and grains (whether I feel it or not, I now know it's wreaking havoc on more than the waistline) on our bodies have been enough. I sort of simply remember that eating sugar with abandon didn't do anything good for me and I figure I've already had enough. That's worked on my brain longer than ever before.

I do hope to one day say 70 pounds down, too, but trying to stop myself from thinking of that as goal. There really is no end game for going back to eating how I used to.

Definitely not a goal. I have a "short term goal" (LOL, it's going on 3 years now!) of 150, and then I'll see where i am at that point. Even if I never get there, I'm not going to eat differently. This is truly my life now. I feel so great and I'm 70 lbs down, not 70 lbs heavier than I was-- or dead--which is where I was headed.
