Stats: sizes 18/6 calling goal!
WOE: JUDDD
Start Date: June 2012
I almost cried weighing at the doctors.

Found out my home scale is weighing 8lbs less. I wanted to go home and cry myself to sleep, with two workouts a day every day and juddds rotations I really expected to see loss on the scale. Instead of crying I went shopping and I had no idea what size I am in because I haven't felt worthy of clothes shopping in a long time, but i grabbed some size twelve, eleven, ten and nines wishful thinking that nines would fit! They all were too big, I thought okay this must be vanity sizing but then I went to six stores and tried eights and some were too big so I winded up coming home with size seven 29 in waist jeans. Same thing with tops I tried mediums and had to go to smalls. All this to say hooray for non scale victories and I have tossed my scale! Exercise rocks.

Congrats on the smaller clothes!

I never weigh at the doctor's what I weigh at home. For one thing, I'm clothed when I weigh at the doctor's. For another, I've probably drunk something on the way there or earlier ("a pint's a pound, the world around").

Same here.

Monday, I weighed 299.8 at home. I drank some water and got dressed (I was fasting for labs, so I didn't even eat), and weighed in at 307 at the doctor's an hour later. That's about normal for me.

how awesome is that???!!!???!!! I thought this was going to be a different kind of thread, and glad it had such a happy ending.

I don't know what kind of consipiracy it is, but all dr's scales are higher than all home scales.

We need to fix that

I must have a highly accurate scale lol. I always weigh the same, give or take a lb or 2 to account for clothes, and I try to wear a dress on those days, and take off my shoes.

Last week, when they weighed me, they didn't even let me take my shoes off! It's winter; those winter shoes are heavy!

I didn't have that excuse: I'm in SoCal (too hot here currently), and I was wearing Crocs. Those things are light as a feather.

Yep, I am always about 6# more at the doctor's than my home scale. I've even had DH go get items that I *know* weigh a certain amount and put them on my scale to make sure mine's accurate. (it always is) weird...and I weigh myself right before I go out the door to the doc's even. <shrug> Scales have horns, though, they just like to mess with our heads. DON'T LET THEM! Listen to the skinny jeans!

Yeah, the scale at the doctor's office is just evil! Every, single, doctor's scale

for skinny jeans!

There was an article a while back and it's title was something like "why the scale lies". In that article (I'm pretty sure that's where I read it) there was a section that talked about how scales in doctor's offices are notoriously OFF. Usually they weigh heavy and they are incorrect.

One reason is if the scale is on a carpet. My doctor's scale is on a carpet in the hallway! I pointed this out to the nurse and suggested they put it on a hard surface floor. She agreed, but they have not done it.

Another reason is they need to be calibrated regularly. Most doctor's offices just don't schedule regular calibration. OFF again.

I have a weight watcher's scale which I love (it's a travel scale, very light and has a handle so I can bring it on the plane with me when I travel). And, I have an expensive Iron Man Tanita body monitor scale. They both weigh me exactly, and I mean exactly, the same. Down to the point two or whatever. I've moved them around the house just to see and they always weigh me the same.

So, when I'm going to the doctor's I put my clothes on, step on my scale, then go to the doc and don't care that I weigh 6 or sometimes 7 pounds more there!

All that said and now.........:j umpjoy:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-----HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

SIZE SEVEN IS AWESOME! YOU ROCK!!! I'm so happy for you and doing a happy, happy, happy dance!!

Thanks everyone, had drinks and appetizers with friends last night and it was DD and all I had was a diet coke while they had one of every appetizer. I was head hungry but not truly hungry so I made it five hours watching them drink and eat and that is when I realized the juddd magic must be in play all while I sat in my skinny jeans listening to them talk about their new slim fast diets and fat talking hehe. I tried to tell them about juddd but they wouldn't hear it. Their loss

Wow, you did really great!

Too bad they won't listen. My friends listen, ask a bunch of questions, seem really open to it, and then don't do anything about it. Sigh.

What a GREAT ending to a great story!!!! Happy Dance for MSN08!

Oh, a few times I tried weighing every hour all day long. The scale does not just lie, the tides of weight in the body rise and fall in accordance with the moon over Mars or Jupiter - certainly no place around here.
