where are you goin?

ok, I totally got this from 'Modern Family'!! But posting this as incentive and accountability. I've started a workout journey, I'm 7 days in. The goal is to workout 365 days for at least 30 minutes. The FUN part is to use the mileage in whatever I'm doing to get somewhere fun, ie: Phil's goal was to get to Canada based on the miles from his ellipitical machine. My fun destination this year is Sloppy Joe's bar in Key West, FL. It's 1269 miles from my house therefore I roughly have to go 3.5 miles each day to get there....so far I'm 27 miles and about on I-295 into my journey.

This sounds like fun. I'll have to think of a place.

My school is part of a kids' running program and they can log in and see the combined running miles of their class and where that puts them on a map of the US. It has interesting historical facts about the places they pass along the way too.

*My definition of win: I didn't quit, didn't throw up, and they didn't close the course on me.

oh that IS fun!!! I thought about marking each state like when i get to Virginia then North Carolina, stopping at south of the border, being careful not to workout tooo fast as to get stopped by the police for speeding in Georgia...hahaha stopping by my parent's in Daytona on my way to Key West....each being a different mini goal...i like the historical aspects!!! That could be fun to learn about something new each state i "exercise" through...my one friend suggested that NYE for 2015 i should book my trip to Key West if i make my goal so i can sit in Sloppy Joe's Bar for real!

I can't decide where to run to.

Yellowstone is about the right distance, but I have been there already and we are going this summer.

Cabo San Lucas is a push, but there is a looooonnnng stretch of Baja without much in the way of landmarks.

I think I'll go to Canada. I like the idea of going to a different country and I have never been there. Victoria, BC is 960 miles from me. That's 18.5 miles per week.

Canada it is.

Mylisa, What a fun idea! I love it. I think I am going to get out of Ohio and go to Arizona this summer. Treading all the way there.

I am liking this idea and have been searching for a new challenge. This would work with my current goals for the most part as well. Because I race triathlons I will incorporate all 3 disciplines into my trip. That means Swimming, Biking and Running some distance. Only planning a Half Iron this year but a full Marathon so my cycling will be a bit lighter and my running a bit heavier than a typical year.

Love the beach, therefor the beach just east of the southernmost point in Key West seems like a good place to sit down for a beer, low-carb of course. My journey will take me from home up to Maine and then all the way down the coast eventually diving into the ocean and swimming the final leg from Marathon Key to the Beach on Key West.

Run: 1036 Miles
Bike: 1570 Miles
Swim: 47.6 Nautical Miles (96000 Yards)

Woot! Let the journey begin!
