Hard DD today

Today is really hard to stick to my DD. I usually like to start eating after work. But today I have a snow day. So I'm home smelling my hubby make a grilled cheese! Also I picked my son up from college yesterday. He is sick. Has mono. So I'm pushing fluids and making lots of cinnamon toast! I keep telling myself I can do this! And I know I can

You'll be fine, and if you go a little over your calories for the day you still will be in Weight Loss Mode.

Remember you can eat anything … tomorrow!

You can do it Lynne! This may sound strange, and some people may want to kick me for saying this, but just try it. Try really breathing in and enjoying the smells of the foods around you on DDs. Just because you smell it, you don't have to eat it. Smelling is a huge part of the enjoyment. I know, eating it is better! I agree! But I often cook for others on my DDs, and I have really learned to enjoy the smells and the visuals of the good food. Tomorrow you can have whatever you want!

I thought gosh she must be God
But now, I can bake too and hold off until its legal to eat it. No problem!
Show yourself u can do this!
That's only happened lately with the Xmas cookies Ive been making.
Today is UD for me though,so I plan to bake! Oh yah

Maybe you could get out of the house? Talk a walk in snow? Then come home and have some broth or tea?

This would NOT worK for many, but it works for me:
When there are lots of yummies around, I let myself have ONE bite.
At the end of the day, I might have "tasted" several bites, and added maybe 50-75 DD calories.
That, along with enjoying the smells, as Carol mentioned, gets me through a lot of tough moments. I think I somehow trick my body into thinking I'm not being denied anything.

And of course, I know that tomorrow I can have more than just a bite!e

I do this occasionally on a DD. It does take a lot to tell myself that one bite is okay, as opposed to caving and turning a good DD into a blown or nearly blown one. But, when I'm struggling through a DD for whatever reason, I opt not to do this as it turn into a blown DD for sure!

From my starting point in July, I've never blown a DD. And there have been only 3-4 UDs where I went significantly over my UD calories. I don't even think I've had an UUAD.

I'm in the zone - so, so stubborn, that I sometimes drive my family crazy on my DD. They don't want me to overdo it.
So eating a bite here and there placates them a bit, keeps me from being too rigid, and make me feel more normal around food.

It's not to say it's not TERRIBLY hard sometimes - just that I know that if I slip, I might have a really, really hard time getting up.

So my suggestion is only for the ones who are nearly obsessive as I am.

I did it, I ended up going into work for 3 hours after the snow was cleared. That kept me busy and not thinking of food. Thanks for the encouragement. Tomorrow I'm having cinnamon toast!

Me either . I'm an ex smoker and that'd be like trying to just have 1 puff here and there. I had to cut it out cold turkey. 11 years quit now. Oh, Lordy I loved to smoke too. Me and my addictive traits.

I do however wish I had that kind of self control to abstain from letting it spiral out of control.

I couldn't take a bite here and there either. I have occasionally succumbed to more than I intended of DD food, however. Those DDs that ended up UDs were ones where I knew I couldn't resist high calorie food, and I knew going in that I had forfeited the DD.

I obviously don't have enough self control or I wouldn't have weighed 180 to begin with!

And you do have it, or you wouldn't have been able to quit smoking!!

As a hard-core sugar addict I live in fear of the day when I decide, having lost the weight, "what the heck, I'll just have a bite, how much damage could it do?" I know the answer to that question, for me, and it is a LOT.

But this is coming from the person who remembers as a child eating a big bowl of sugared cornflakes with skim milk for breakfast and crying with hunger and faintness 2 hours later. Know thyself, seriously.

I'm also thinking of nice (low-carb) things I can have tomorrow at DH's office holiday party to get myself through this downer down day. And I won't count them, either.
