Have any of you ever had this happen?

My ds woke me up this morning because his stomach was hurting very badly. I examined him and there was a softball sized solid lump right below his belly button. His stomach has been hurting for a while now so I took him to the Dr yesterday but he wasn't in pain at the appointment so the Dr just dx as recurrent stomach pain and possible ibs and gave a referral to a specialist. Anyways this lump and pain completely went away after my ds urinated. He is eight and has never had a bladder or kidney infection just always pale, lethargic and not growing much but he has been checked over and nothing was found except very high b12 levels. So I have no idea if this ibs is what is going on or not. This lump thing freaked me out! I will be calling the stomach specialist but I just want to know if anyone had ever had this disappearing bulge after urinating and what kind of tests or what not he will likely have to go through?

I am not a doctor but it sounds like he may have a hernia and the bladder is trapped in it.
Definitely take him to the ER and have it checked out.
Sorry your baby is in pain

It does sound like a hernia which can be pushed back in, so that might explain the lump disappearing. I agree, bring him to Urgent care and tell them about the lump. Keep your son quiet and don't let him lift or be too active before he's checked out. Please keep us posted.

Thank you for the replies! The specialist diagnosed it as "abdominal migraine" but said there are no tests that can prove it but its a migraine in the stomach. He did not find a lump or anything to suggest a hernia. He gave a prescription for some migraine medicine but I don't like just giving meds to try and not having any real answers when the side effects would be worse than the current discomfort.

I know. He still has a stomach ache occasionally but it's not debilitating like it has been at least. And I don't know if it is coincidence or not but the only thing I have changed is that I have been giving him two tablespoons of Coconut oil daily and he has a nice glow to his skin and for once doesn't scare me with his paleness. Thank you for asking.
