Thanksgiving 2013 - what are you making?

Just for fun! I love seeing what everyone has/makes and whether it's LC or not!

I just popped a totally LC pumpkin pie with hazelnut crust in the oven. Smells good already.

We'll also have:

19 pound turkey, cooked in the roaster oven (LC)
Dressing (NOT LC)
Mashed Potatoes (NOT LC)
Cranberry Jalapeno Sauce (LC)
Turkey gravy (semi-LC)
Pearl onions with butter sauce (LC, as much as onions are anyway)
Green peas (not very LC but traditional for us)
White wine (pretty LC!)
Pecan Pie ice cream (uh, let's not talk about it....)

What's on your menu this year? What's LC, what's not?

Turkey made with bacon butter
Kale made with beef broth and salt pork
Sausage stuffing with pork rinds and almond flour
Potatoe pancakes (not lc)
Mac and cheese (not low carb)

Thinking of a sweet potatoe casserole with butter it squash, but that may be too much.

Going to try to make a pumpkin pie with an almond crust and zsweet instead of sugar

My meal will not be overly low carb.

My dad cooks, so I don't know what all he is making. This is what I know we are having.

turkey (LC)
giblet gravy (LC ish)
deviled eggs (LC) (My contribution)
mashed potatoes (Not LC) (I'll only have a little)
mac and cheese (Not LC) (Just a little of this too)
creamed spinach (LC ish)
mac and tomato (Not LC) (yuck! I won't have any)
pumpkin pie (Not LC) (No thank you)
pecan pie (Not LC) (This I will cheat with)

and the star of the show in my opinion
Oyster Dressing (Not LC) (I could eat just this and be happy)

The oyster dressing is super high carb, but my mom used to make it for me every year, because I loved it. When she got sick, it was important to her that her recipe was passed on and she taught my dad and me how to make it. My last Thanksgiving with her was spent with her dictating as my dad mixed it up and I took notes. I will always have this on Thanksgiving and Christmas. No diet is ever going to stop me from keeping with this tradition.
Falling down along the way doesn't keep you from getting to your destination. Failure to get back up and keep going does.

Going to Son & DIL's house:
They're making:
Roast Turkey
Son's amazing dill rolls
mixed green salad with walnuts and pears and goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette
2-3 desserts

I'm bringing:
Sweet potato casserole--no sugar added, our NC sweet potatoes are amazingly sweet
Tiny French green beans, steamed with toasted almonds
LC pumpkin pie
white wine

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

we are deep frying our turkey this year, along with all the usual trimmings, hubby said the only thing he misses about not roasting the turkey in the oven is how good the kitchen smells while its in the oven with the dressing....

We're going to two places - first place, my SIL will make lasagna and since she knows we and now my nephew do low carb, she's going to use swiss chard instead of pasta as our layers. She'll also have turkey and several sides.

Then to my brother's - he always makes Alton Brown's "Good Eats" Turkey and oh man is it good...lots of sides there too.

My contribution to both will be roasted brussels sprouts and LC pumpkin pie cake.
