Impressed with my grocery store.

In texas our big grocery store chain is H-E-B... I shop there once a week if not more often, they have a huge own brand line that is excellent in every department. They also put out a monthly magazine filled with recipes, coupons and articles and information. So tonight browsing it like I do....

Page nine, headline is... Counting Carbs? We got ya covered. First part covers diabetes rates in texas and how it can be overwhelming to understand new information for newly diagnosed diabetics.

Then moves on to suggest talking to a dietitian, then on to their new recognizable icon!! This is the exciting part! Lol, shelf labels and their own brands will soon all have a label that looks like a little piece of toast with 0-15 in the toast. Suggesting these said items are lower carb on exchange lists.

Wtg HEB! The side bar is their advertisement for their pharmacy A1C testing

That is really cool that somewhere in their corporate structure they thought of this and are actually going to do it. I had no idea a pharmacy could do blood tests. That'd be nice!

Meh. I'm in Texas, north though, and we don't have H.E.B. I'm jelly. We have United Supermarket up here (main huge chain), and they are pretty good with having more healthy and low carb stuff (only certain locations), but I wish we had other stores as well.

That is awesome!! I have to do my own research and at several stores, reading labels etc to get the lowest carb foods!! I wish we had a store like that around here!

P.s. MsWoods, your halloween costume looks awesome!!!

How cool!! I'll have to keep on the lookout for the new little labels. Haven't gotten our magazine yet, but can't wait to check it out.
