Thanks Mom!

So, mother calls this morning and says...I think that I will cook fried chicken, potato salad, and baked beans for supper tonight, what do you think? Seriously! Mother that wouldn't fit with either diet that I go back and forth on LC or WW. Sorry, just needed to vent. We take turns cooking.

Can you ask her to make cole slaw for you instead of the beans? And then just pick off the breading on the chicken?

Mom, you know I can't eat that way how about baked chicken, veggies and slad for me...you can have beans and potato salad tho and then there will be left overs for you if you don't like what I fix the next night.
That's how it works around here...I just let who ever cooks cook what they want and then eat my veggies with what ever meat there is served.
Good luck and stay strong.

Mothers! Mine is diabetic, and says, I just can't give up my fruit. Okay, then I give up. It's like talking to a wall....

You could say, Mom, that sounds great! Are you breading the chicken with Parmesan and pork rinds? Are you making the potato salad with cauliflower? The beans sound good, but make only enough for you! Love you!

Doubt it'd work, but Mothers.

My mom is a southern, carbaholic and she will only eat what she wants. I'm just going to tell you, other than a salad every now and then, she is one that eats high carb and high fat. Can we say stubborn? I dread the day that a doctor tries to tell her how to eat.

Well, I know exactly how you feel. My mother never had a weight problem (she's 5'1" and weighs a whole 105 lbs) so she thinks nobody else should either! She is very vein...always trying the latest thing she reads in a popular woman's magazine to loose her little pouch in front. When the "diet" she read about didn't work...she's on to the next. Of course, she never researches any of it. I try to tell her "if the entire plan is on two pages, you aren't getting the all the information that you need. You never give any of them enough time!

On to the topic.....every Friday night, the entire family comes to her house (my father passed away last year and she is lonely). She insists on providing the meal. She usually gets pizza so the kids are pleased. I told her I can't have that. So she called me and asked about fried chicken and french fries. I told her I can't have that either. Then, I just told her....you get what everyone else wants and I will bring my own food.
She has been brainwashed with all that Low Fat stuff that she cannot comprehend that I eat bacon, butter, heavy cream, sour cream, cream cheese, meat, ranch dressing, etc.!

Sorry that your topic caused a big rant. It just stirred up some feelings that I have that no one else understands!

Ooph! I'd definitely say that was fine for her, but I'd be scrounging for something suitable for me. Fortunately that's just what I always assume when I'm eating something I didn't cook. It's no issue for her to make something that sounds good to her and you can't eat, every once in awhile, but I'd also expect her to assume you'd have to make alternate preparations, too.
