Fibromyalgia flare with LC

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/UD Autoimmune Disorder in 2011. I started a low carb diet 3 days ago and suddenly my pain is as intense as ever. My left knee continues to bother me, but now my right shoulder is killing me, my back pain is much worse, all my joints are more stiff and sore, and all of my muscles ache more than usual. I am only 19 and swim for an hour daily. I take 60mg Cymbalta, 400mg Plaquenil and a multivitamin daily, as well as 10mg Flexeril as needed for sleep, and 5-7.5mg Lortab as needed, which has very little effect on my pain. Why is this happening??

There was a podcast on Jimmy Moore about fibro and how iodine helps it. My older friend has fibro and I told her about adding iodine..She said that was a good idea and going to try it..She had been using sea salt (without the added iodine)..

I also have fibromyalgia. I'm thinking that you are just having a flare-up that just happens to have started now.
When I did low carb faithfully, I had the most pain free time I've ever had since becoming diagnosed with fibro back in 2005.
Another thing that really helps me is using coconut oil. I add it to my coffee, I find it helps with energy.
I take cymbalta, iron, trazadone, zanaflex and ambien to help.
Try to give your lc woe some time.
I believe I also used the iodine back when I did low carb.
I'm doing juddd right now, you can find that message board here on low carb friends.
Best of health to you, I really hope that you feel better soon!

I do the same thing if I have too much beef. I only have beef about once or twice a week now. Have you been eating beef more than anything else? Also, peppers cause me to flare. I'm gluten free also. Don't forget to drink lots of fluids and take a multivitamin also.

LC has helped my pain tremendously. If you haven't already done it, cutting out artificial sweeteners might help. Taking Omega 3 supplementation also helps and reducing your omega 6 intake.

LC has also helped my pain and my energy levels. But everyone is different. I have to adjust my carbs to my pain and fatigue. But I can really tell when I have eating too many. I hope you get it figured out.

I have been low carbing for over 3 years. I was diagnosed with Fibro this winter but I can look back and see that I've been having some of these symptoms for a few years.

CJMO... you said that you adjust your carb intake depending on your pain? Would you mind sharing a bit more information on how you do that? And how it helps?

Thanks so much!
