Ketosis. How long does it take??

How long does it take to get into Ketosis ?? I know it's differant for everyone but does the book give u a time period to go by before u tweak things?

To get into ketosis (i.e., making ketones owing to a reduction in dietary carbohydrate) takes a few days to a week or so.

To become keto-adapted (i.e., your body has become efficient at burning fat for fuel - which involves multiple changes in many types of cells in your body) takes 4-6 weeks or longer for some individuals.

Took me 9 days of below 50g of carbs. (tested on the 7th day and there after. Now I only test every 2-3 days

It is dependent on many factors, including your personal metabolism and the type of diet you ate before the switch. The higher in carbs your previous diet, the longer it will take.

It typically takes me about three to four days.

Phinney says it can take up to 4-6 weeks to become fully adapted to a ketogenic food plan. For ketosis, it should happen in the first week or shortly thereafter. For me, it's usually Day 4 or 5.

I think getting into ketosis is one question and becoming keto adapted is another.

It seems fair to say that it can take on average 3 days to a week to get into ketosis on an induction style woe.

To become keto-adapted, it takes approx. 3 to 4 wks for most but there are some that it will take even longer - up to 6 wks.
