Quick question about carbs and JUDD

How many carbs do you eat on up days vs down days? or does it have nothing to do with carbs. I'm just a bit confused

I have tons of carbs on up days. It doesn't seem to matter. On down days I try to get mostly protein, so pretty low carbs those days.

On UD I eat moderate carbs 40-150 gr. DD are pretty low carb. Many people don't worry abut carbs on JUDDD, they only count calories.

It doesn't matter with JUDDD, but some do JUDDD in conjunction with LC.

I try not to eat carbs like white bread, white rice, sugar, etc. That's just my personal preference. If I do happen to have any of those on an UD I don't stress about it. I'd rather not have them on DDs because there are so many other things I can be eating that have less calories and more nutritional value.

I don't count carbs at all on UD or DD. A bunch of the things I like on DDs are carby, like magic pops or deli pops, wasa crackers or kavli crisp bread. On Atkins I even limited my veggies like celery, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini to stay under 20 net carbs a day. Wow- I have no idea how I did that. I use to count each packet of splenda as 1 carb so I could go through my 20 quickly if I wasn't eating meat with a side of meat. JUDDD only cares about calories, so if I want to eat my 300 calories in the form of ice cream I can. JUDDD doesn't care... eventually my body would not appreciate it.
JUDDD changed my life. It transformed my health, gave me freedom and restored my confidence.

JUDDD is very simple, very livable and very flexible. JUDDD allows weight loss and life to happen simultaneously.

I try to keep carbs between 100-150g on UD's and low on DD's trying to only eat good fats or protein on DD's. And since my WOE is paleo/primal I avoid grains/legumes on all days for the most part, except for an occasional cheat on an UD.

159.3 Pounds lost since 7/14/2011

Low Calorie: 7/14/2011 - 80lbs lost
Primal: 4/20/2012 - 55.3lbs lost
JUDDD: 4/10/2013 - 23.4lbs lost
Nutritional Ketosis 9/1/2013 - 15.4% BF

I don't count carbs at all. I usually eat fairly low carb on DDs just because it helps with hunger. Not that I set out on any day to eat low carb, but prefer meats and vegs on DDs because nutrition light carbs seems to make me hungrier. I do often have a popsicle at the end of a DD though.

I count carbs. I stay below 50g, net, 99% of the time.
My WOE is low carb, high fat.
You could eat low fat, Mediterranean, SAD, or one of any number of other plans.

JUDDD is merely an eating schedule.
Doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you follow the schedule for the how much you eat.

I am very carb sensitive and eat 20g or fewer a day for my health.

I did JUDDD for 3 years entirely low carb. On DDs I was almost zero carb.

As others have pointed out, JUDDD is simply a calorie cycling plan. What you eat is entirely up to you.

I don't really COUNT carbs, but I do stick to LC foods most of the time. Occasionally on UD's, I may get a blizzard from DQ or get a chicken sandwich from Burger King, but most of the time I try to avoid sugar and bread. DD's are mostly fat and protein.
As of 5/19/2014, No longer "overweight"!

This is what I do too!

I found it makes things exponentially easier if I keep my carbs low 50net or less on UDs. I can still eat pretty much anything I desire in its low carb iteration and am completely satisfied. And then on DDs, it's much lower and pretty easy!

I don't count my carbohydrates but on a DD, MCT oil is >50% of my kcal's and on an UD it's approx. 25%. This probably says something about my overall kcal intake from fat.

I don't eat grains, sugar or fruit at present as I'm experimenting with moderating my glucose levels to control recurrent migraine (in addition to the MCT).

As everyone says, JUDDD is a calorie cycling schedule and what you eat within that is up to you which is either quite a liberating feeling or can leave you searching for a roadmap and some recognisable wayside markers at the outset. Good luck!

I'm doing JUDDD in conjunction with SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) as i have ulcerative colitis, this means grain free, lactose free (hard cheeses and butter & homemade SCD yoghurt are all ok) and sugar free. On DDs my carbs are pretty low, below 20g usually. On an UD i try to stick below 100g carbs. Carbwise i enjoy fruits and honey which i wouldn't even consider when low carbing.

But that's just me and at the end of the day every JUDDDer has their own strategy because it's the calories rather than the carbs that allow the magic to work. As you can see from the wide variety of replies you can just take your choice :-)

Sorry to threadjacck...Leo41, did you lose all your weight on JUDDD? Was it more the low carb or the difference in calories daily or a combo that helped you lose? Just curious
