Sorry all, but I can't ever remember, is it better to weigh meat before or after it is cooked? Thanks!

I wasn't aware of any rule .... I use the cooked weight and the USDA's #'s for the type of meat and the method of cooking. So a 6 oz. steak may turn out to be 5.5 oz. once grilled.

Depends on your intent.

For a rough guide on how much to eat, for me, I measure raw because it's easy when I'm cooking. 5-8 oz is my goal depending on hunger.
If I'm eating leftovers, I weigh it cooked and I shoot for 4-6 oz.
Your plan, or your body, may require different amounts.

If you want to figure out a recipe for a stew where you'll eat everything that goes into the pot including a fatty roast, tally it out raw.

If you're eating a burger and leaving the grease in the pan, find out what you ingested by using a tracker/counter that gives the numbers for "burger patty, cooked, yield from 4 oz raw".

And then if it helps, generally for lean meats, 3.5 oz raw yields 3 oz cooked.
For fattier cuts, 4 oz raw yields 3 oz cooked.
And for really fatty stuff like chuck roast or pork butt, there's about a 60-70% yield, so 6 oz raw yields somewhere around 4 oz.

Depends on what tracker you're using.
If the tracker states "4oz" then it probably means the data is for raw.
If it states "4oz cooked", then weigh after cooking.

definitely weigh it the way your nutrition facts state, otherwise you will be counting it wrong.

Right; it doesn't really matter which way you do it, as long as what you think you are doing is what your nutrition info says. If you'd been weighing 8 ounces of chicken breast cooked, and then realized your nutrition info was for raw, you'd be off by a few ounces. As long as you're consistent, either way is okay.

One more thought--
when you're browsing a restaurant menu and you see "Half pound burger" (8 oz) or "12 oz new york strip", that's raw weight.
