Cake pops or Donut holes

I started with this recipe ( http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...nnel-cakes.htm )
and changed it around because I wanted to use some flaxmeal. They were way better than I imagined they would be.

1 egg
3 TB butter melted
5 drops liquid sucralose
1 tsp vanilla
2 TB unflavored whey protein
2 TB golden flaxmeal

Beat with a fork. Pour into preheated babycakes cakepop maker. Wait four minutes, Lift lid and be prepared for a lovely sight. I rolled the in granular E.

Oooo, I'm thinking of making a chocolate version too, maybe a pb. Wonder how much cocoa powder I'd need.

Thanks for posting!

Dorcas,

I actually looked up your donut hole maker on that big discount site. Thinking of getting one as I love donuts and do not really care for frying foods often. You really like your machine? Easy to use?

TIA for the feedback.

I am so happy that you started this thread. I'm tired of looking at my sad little Babycakes maker sit unused in a storage closet. Thank you.

I just bought it at Salvation Army. This was the first I used it, but I think it worked great. The recipe has too much butter in though, it sizzled out of the pops all over the hot surface. Today I used 1 TB butter, 1 TB cream, and 1 TB water for the liquids. It worked well. I want to find a good glaze recipe, too.

I love my cake pop maker . If you look online they have recipes for making LC fish holes. I can't remember where I got the recipe. 1 blogger makes meatballs in hers.

Thanks Buttoni. If you try them, reduce the amount of butter in my original post. It cooks out of the pops and makes the 'maker' messy.

Dorcas, you say one 1 Tb. each butter, cream and water. Is that instead of the former 3 Tb. of butter? Everything else stays the same?

I ordered my donut hole maker yesterday. I am definitely going to christen it by making these. Thanks, Dorcas, for the note on reducing the butter.

Have you ever made a chocolate flavored? Or maybe used a bit of pb for a pb version? So many possibilities! I will see if I can find a good glaze recipe or so for you.

These come out fine in the microwave too. Used less butter, hc and water. Actually I used cream cheese instead of butter in one batch.

I bought a cake pop maker a while back just because it was cute. Now I finally have a reason to use it.

I tried a different recipe this morning. They were very cake-like. My 11 yr old daughter ate them and she normally stays away from my 'diet' foods.

I googled low carb 24/7 tilapia and got to Ginny's fish tots. They look amazing.

I made crab cake tots with my baby cakes maker, just using my standard crab cake recipe and they were so good. Great party food and everybody loves them.

Thanks Diana I thought it was Ginny. I've made a lot of different ones. Great for summer eating. I don't eat tilapia so wanted to make them w/ different proteins.

Just dropped these donuts in my cooker. I am excited to see how they turn out. I used the first recipe, with the subs for the 3 TBL of butter. Hope they are great!! Even better, I hope my kids like them.

Oh, my!! These are great!!! I had them hot off the cakemaker and they were hot! But very yummy!!! My son loves them. Of course he has them coated in powdered sugar, but with the sweetener in them (I used EZSweet ) it was sweet enough for me. I snagged one before he put sugar on his. He said "These would be so good with glaze on them". That will be my next project. LOL
