What is considered low carb?

grams per day? I am not following any particular plan but I been eating about 100 grams a day wich is about 60% less carbs that I ate before I was trying to hit low carb. Prior I was about 250-300/ a day

It depends on what your trying to achieve. if its ketosis then under 40 from memory. If its slow weight loss, anything under 100. For health, whatever your metabolism can cope with.

That's pretty much considered low to moderate carb. Basically, anything under 100g is considered moderate to low carb, and anything under 50g is considered ketogenic (though the actual number a person needs to eat under to achieve ketosis varies, it's pretty much always fewer than fifty per day).

Since the standard American diet consists of more than 300g per day, you can see why there's such a wide allowance for "low" or "moderate carb."

that is probably healthier than your previous diet, especially if you try to get most of those carbs from vegetables and not grains and sugar.

the trouble can come when people eat a fair lot of carbs like you are doing and a lot of fat too. probably under 150 grams of carbs a day you are ok eating fat, but check your lipids to be sure after you have been doing it awhile.

All the great benefits really come from a ketogenic level of carbs which for most is something around 20g. There are some 'gifted metabolisms' that can do it on 50g or less but it is best to start low and then over time add back to the point that you start to lose ketosis and then you have found your critical carb level for losing (ccll).

Be prepared to experience some of what is referred to as 'carb flu' which is really a natural process of the body switching over to a fat burning state but due to the diuretic effects of that, you may need to replace with chicken broth or something like that.
