Foods That Are Particularly High In Fat

What are some foods that you eat that are particularly high in good fats? I already consume a fair amount of coconut oil, butter, avocado and nuts but I'm wondering if there are some more options that I've not considered. Also, I would prefer non-animal sources (i.e. Not meat or dairy).

Extra virgin olive oil. I love finding new varieties to try.

You're in California so you have a huge market of olive oils from your home state to explore. Look for the California Olive Oil Council seal- they test and ensure that the oils are actually extra virgin.

Not sure if you consider this non-meat, but fish oils from the oily fish like sardines, mackerel, tuna and the like with their high omega 3 content are perhaps the healthiest oil sources out there. At least a couple servings a week are highly recommended.

Organic raw coconut butter can be found on the internet and they deliver. They also sell it in single serving packets that are great for travel. Just google it.

Same here. I have found them at Costco but it only seems to be at Christmas time. I stock up. I currently have about 1/4 can left until I find more.....

this is my problem, I love the Kirkland signature Mauna Loa Macadamia nuts but can only get them at holiday time. I'm planning to stock up on at least 12 cans so that I can have one can a month until the next time they are available.

I also only have 1/4 can left...i'm being very stingy with them

I see macadamia nuts more now is Safeway stores (for those who live near them). But the price is a lot higher than a few years ago.

I would add to what you are already consuming dark chocolate and olive oil. Otherwise, you are running out of non-animal sources. That’s why it’s really hard for a vegan to do this.

I buy my Mauna Loa macs on Amazon.

And how about coconut bark?

1 Lindt choc bar
6 tbs coconut oil
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 c sweetener of your choice
1 tsp vanilla

Melt choc, coco oil, sweetener and vanilla in microwave 30 sec at a time until pourable and smooth.
Pour over nuts (that are either on parchment paper or in a oiled container).
Freeze until hard. Break into pieces. Enjoy!

I am thinking about adding ancho chile powder to spice it up a bit.
Maybe add some toasted pumpkin seeds and cocoa nibs, too.

Thank you again for the additional suggestions! I really LOVE dairy, sometimes I feel I could live off of cheese and sour cream and be completely happy, lol! But Dairy doesn't love me so much. I'm not lactose intolerant or anything, but it tends to slow my weight loss to a crawl :-(

It could be a particular type of dairy.
Good cheeses work well for me. I have d'affinois (a triple cream soft cheese), cream havarti, and a really hard gruyere right now.
I can do cottage cheese even though I'm trying to stick with induction foods.

Cream seems to stall me. And so do some run-of the mill cheeses, especially american and colby. My theory is that the culturing to make the milk/cream turn into cheese does something to an enzyme that bothers me. I am mildly lactose-intolerant, but not bad.

ETA and because the specialty cheeses are so rich, I don't eat a lot of them, so that could be why I do okay on them.

If you can find it Mascarpone cheese. It is wicked in both the positive and negative sense of the word. I have a 15oz jar sitting in the fridge and even with the door closed I can hear it calling....

Do you like nut butters - eg almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter?

Things like walnut oil or macadamia nut oil are expensive, but can make very unique flavored salad dressings.

Having a hard time finding Macadamia nuts here in Alberta too......I did find some Macadamia Butter at Well (dot) ca, is it ever good! I put a dollop of this on turkey deli slices and roll them up.

My personal favorite fat sources are extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, butter, heavy cream, sour cream, full-fat dressings ... I LOVE my fat!
