Ketone Strips

I know it's controversial and all, but for the heck of it, I decided to buy some keytone test strips today and I just used one. Now mind you I drank vodka and diet tonic last night and I've drank a lot of water this morning and it still came out small (15). So I'm guessing that's a good thing?

Ketones are always good!

Have you checked into the blood ketone meters? There is one you can get for free. But sadly it only comes w two strips and they're pretty expensive after that. I do think the info the give is much more valuable than the ones you pee on, though. I can't remember the name of the free meter... maybe someone else knows?

Might be Novamax

There's two "free" ones. It's the strips that get you. One of the Nova Max and the other is the Precision Xtra. If you search on Jimmy Moore's blog there is a comparsion of them somewhere on there. Basically the Nova Max strips are cheaper, but flimsier, and it may not be as accurate. The Precision Xtra seems to be the one to go with if cost is not a factor (or if insurance would cover it) as the strips are sturider and may be a more accurate, especially at the low end. I am thinking of getting the Nova Max becuase I don't think I could stomach the cost of the Precision Xtra strips, and as long as I am in nutritonal ketosis I am not sure the exact number matters to me that much.
